Agreed if you have access to a machine.....it was the first thing I ever sewed.
If you don't have access, what you'd pay someone may be enough to buy one!
+1 on Ebay but there are lots of good buys / sources out there.
As said before get More than you need.....it comes up in lots of projects.
I love her 72" wide ripstop! It is a little heavy but man
it sure is comfortable. I've made a number of orders
and have been very happy with them.
I just finished a 11.5' indoor Hammock/bed with her 72" wide material and I have to say
it's my best lay yet!
I just placed an order and dickered on the price :)
72" wide ripstop, interesting, can't wait to compare quality.
Shipped the next day, gota like that. Thanks for the heads up

Turning 55 this year and feel it! Wish I hadn't been so bold in my younger years :)
I'm truly thankful of this forum for turning me on to hammocks as I've always
loved to sleep under the stars.
Ok I'm a bit dense but I'm wanting to make one of these too :)
The part I don’t get is after sewing the main body to the footbox assembly
won’t that side be shorter than 10' because of the...
Yes that is what I call the Artic  but it being rectangular I had to
draw string the ends so if it's too warm I just open up the ends to vent
it works like a thermostat so I seem to be able to...
If weight is not a big problem, I like to over stuff until the down quits
shifting. My under quilt was 79 x 49 with 3” baffles so it’s a bit large,
It took 35oz before the shifting stopped....

Yea I'd like to see some pics, sounds interesting

Yes Rev you are correct user error for the most part but as I implied I have to constantly
fiddel with the settings and it seems like reading the reviews that some of these
machines will sew with...
After a year or so of DIY gear projects steming from this forum I'd like to get
myself a new toy. I tend to fight a bit with my current injector, keeping seams
straight and tight but it does a fine...
I applaud my fellow Floridians within this group for taking the initiative to act on this matter.
It would be a great accomplishment if people within this forum could get
these regulations...
Seems it's not just State Parks. My favorite place the Everglades National Park has this

I too am a full timer, I have tried the Myan and a few other net types but so far
I prefer the gather end DIY.
It would be nice so see a forum on the subject it may spark new Ideas for indoor...
VW Supplex is what I was considering too but when you look at the sources there seem
to be variations has anyone used a particular one?
Knotty I agree and I've got enough IX left over from our...
I love sleeping in a hammock and my aging back loves it as well so I want to design
a hammock without regards to weight ect.
I have made a number of gathered end hammocks using ripstop each...

I too was confused about how to attach the baffles, I was using 9' x 3'
parallel with the length and 8' x 3' parallel with the width.
I started by marking where I wanted them on the...
Here are a few pics of my first one. I intend to make a second one as well
depending on your design it can be used as TQ or your UQ. Have fun with it and be sure to take pics :)...
Stupid question but what exactly is a quilting loop? How is it tied or made?
Very good, thanks Raven, I just wanted to prevent any confusion.
I do not see Sil Nylon on their website so what exactly are you asking for when ordering?
1.3 oz. Nylon ripstop, 30 denier, silicone coated 2nds?
I've not ordered from this source but sounds like...

I don't know how I missed this post. Nice work! You'll be warm this winter.
You and I were building around the same time. I thought mine was big, yours
is a bit on the huge size as...
I've often thought about this....it would take some climbing gear...
Wish I was 20 years younger :)
kc7fys, looking at your pictures it doesn't look too overstuffed to me.
The lower fill powders and type like duck can make it feel dense and heavier
than normal.
Looks like an awesome first,...
Thanks for the link. I wonder if it is like what Rockywoods used to carry.
2ND Cooke Custom.....good stuff:D
cosmicmiami I do have a hem foot but I've never taken the time to get it to work, I don't pin either just roll it and sew it! <-- was the first thing I learned
little over a year ago...now I'm...
I believe down is the top preformer as well, though some of the synthetics can come close. Down will last forever the synthetic will break down over time.
Solobear I understand your question because I too have never tried the bridge hammock and wonder about the lay, seems like it would have some shoulder squeeze because of the U but then the same...
That "Z" baffle is an interesting idea. The top, bottom, and middle netting
could all be chalk lined or marked with long parallel lines and the netting sewn in as one sheet. No cutting baffles and...
This is the first source for the Aluminized Nylon Ripstop that I've seen.
Thanks for the link wirerat
P-bear I'm glad to hear your doing better this thread has all of us thinking of safety with our gear. I too have dropped a time or two but was lucky.
Your experience has me thinking of reviewing...
Finished dimensions are around 76" x 47", I'm 6' so for use as a full size underquilt is just right for me and when you pull the end ties it'll snug right up to the hammock but I leave it pretty...

Thanks for the complements everyone :)
samiam2714 I'm glad you got thru the problems of construction, no I didn't use the tent method for filling. I did use the vacuum wand for a bit but when I...
