Anyone got pics?
Has anyone experience with using this wide fabric to make an asym tarp without a seam? I figure a tarp 75x108 would give me right around 11' ridge line, but I'm curious how the ridge behaves. As the...
Hey Shug, That's a fancy water filter setup you got there, would you mind speaking to the details about it? I've got myself a sawyer mini and have been looking for a good setup like yours to improve...
I just ordered a 30d bushwack Superfly and the fabric seems noticeably lighter than my 30d silnylon hex tarp. Is there any way to verify that I got a 30d and not shipped a 20d by mistake?
I dunno, 1oz difference doesn't seem worth risking.
Awesome thanks for the update! I assume that the 30D silpoly weighs the same as the 30D silnylon. Order is out!
The wind isnt so awesome with a hex tarp either, you're only getting marginally better wind blockage for the weight. A bit better rain coverage with the hex imho. If you're going for an all around...
Was wondering if WB has gotten the fabric in and started production on the second round of tarps using the 30d material like their site says. I'd love a bushwack superfly, but the 20d fabric has me...
I'm curious if there are any cottage outfitters who make a hammock that has a footbox, yet doesn't have an integrated bugnet. I hear so much about how nice the blackbird is, however I think weight...
Straight from the horses mouth
I saw that Dutch has some new (to me) hardware on his site now. I had planned on using some linelock3's for my tarp tie-outs but I just noticed these new Slide Locks on dutch's site.
I was...
Still no news?
Anyone have a source on a sturdy inexpensive bag to pack my disassembled stand into for storage and transport? (I've got 6' legs)
The issue i see with using the mitered L fitting for the outside leg of a bipod stand is that it separates thd legs from eachother and puts some weird forces on the toprail. No idea what it would do...
I picked up some 1/4"x 2" hinge lock pins from Lowes today. I did the drilling and pinning this afternoon with a 1/4" drill bit after using a center punch to start off where I wanted the hole to keep...
It's also relatively expensive, eliminating the whole point of using tyvek to begin with.
How would this limit adding an extender?
I really like the idea of the clevis pin, and it's got me thinking. If I drill through both the fitting and the top tube I can secure it through both like how it was done with the spurtle stand.
You don't find that it destabilized things by not clamping the top rail snug to the L fitting?
So I got mine built today and tested it out.
I started with 4 10.5' poles and cut 6' legs from each. The 1 1/4" rubber caps took a little coaxing to fit on, but with some hairspray and something...
I sewed tabs on my stuff sack and hang mine the same way. Effectively adding 0g to my setup.
My understanding is that amsteel loses a considerable amount of strength through compression like that. So I think it's six in one, half dozen the other. I cant imagine these weigh less than a camp...
A little trick from my days of working on bikes. Spray some hairspray in the caps. It'll lubricate them to make putting them on super easy and when it dries it'll stick em in place like glue but...
I leave mine on the hammock and just stuff it into the hammocks double ended stuff sack. If I just want the hammock deployed I just stuff the bugnet into the stuffsack at the end and cinch it up.
Welp today this setup finally slowly lowered me to my buttox. After weeks of hanging on it without problem, I was finally gaining some confidence that this would be a viable setup. Oh well, time to...
I havent seen many solutions for plugging the ends of the feet so they dont damage concrete/wood/carpet or dig into earth and pull up a plug soil sample of my lawn or campsite. Id love to see some...
Perfect! Thankyou
So just to clarify this connector fits over the unswagged portion of the bar. I want to connect the rails by putting the swagged end in the unswagged end of another, then have this connector over...
Anyone know if this would fit over top of a swagged connection or would the swagged end need to be hacked off?
http://www.tarps.com/images/fcj.jpg
Couldn't that have been achieved the same with the swagged ends these fence top rails come with? Has anyone tried just using the swagged ends? Do they fit tight enough that they aren't loose and...
True, but I'm going for ultralight. Crunching the numbers comparing this setup to the new 2.2 Kevlar tree straps, there was maybe only a couple grams difference in weight. I may be picking up some...
What are you doing differently with the top rail BigE? It seems you're the only one i've seen who's got some major flex going on.
The only thing that freaks me out about it is that I don't trust the stitching to hold. especially when my weight isn't evenly distributed. I couldn't find or generate any feedback from those...

B and D dont look like they would do a very good job of keeping the down where you want it, while C kind of defeats the whole purpose of Karo step reducing material and weight.
I'm not sure I was clear in what I was saying. I do it like this on the knot

rather than like this before the knot...
I never noticed any slippage, and I weigh 250lbs. I do make sure to pull the MSH nice and tight before attaching my hammock. Another thing i do is put the loop ON the knot, not behind it, not sure...
I would leave it as is. 11' should pretty much keep you covered in the rain and you would be able to fold the corners in as partial doors. Keep i mind that when you wash the tyvek to take the...
Is Intruder Multi-cam no longer available? I dont see it listed on the website anymore.
I dont see why it wouldn't work. may be a bit of a pain to feed the full length of amsteel through. Just thinking it through it seems the becket hitch would be more difficult to tie. As to better,...
I can still see it with my eyes closed!
Just got back from a test trip. Suspension worked flawlessly. No slip and it was super easy to setup. I only had to retie one knot to get it dialed in to where I wanted. Upon inspection of the...
Yes sag will effect calf ridge. Yes and No, once you have your ridgeline set hanging it tighter will not change the sag, however hanging it looser to the point where the ridgeline itself sags will. ...
If you're expecting inclimate its recommended to hang your tarp like this, and not like
this
If you loosen the marlin spike its actually quite simple and easy to slide the knot up and down.
I picked it up at my local REI
https://hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/123670-Ditching-whoopie-slings
This was my similar solution.
The second loop keeps the webbing from sliding off as well as creates a place to hang things (Eventually I will use them as attachment points of a gear sling when I get around to making one) I...

So this is my new setup, I've removed whoopies and created two 5.5' dogbones that get girth hitched to my tree huggers. The...
well I never saw any results of having the amsteel fail. Mostly toggle and half hitches coming off... but if you tied off the toggle with a marlin spike it solves those problems and leaves only the...
