Good good. I'm so sad I was unable to attend, even with the warm temperatures, no Aurora Borealis and deep snow I would have loved to be there! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I redeemed myself...
It would indeed be great to see some pictures of what I missed :)

How I'm doing is a very good question. Not so good I'm afraid. I was going to start driving an hour ago, but now I think I have to cancel the whole thing. I've been coughing for a while and thought...
What is the exact date and time I should meet you guys? I need to plan my departure
-Frikk
I thought I should try a lightweight alternative for once, hehe. If my puny plastic shovel fails, I may need to charter the use of yours in exchange for some bacon ;)
Great pictures! I've yet to...
Shovel that will hopefully make my post office before SKAHOW :)

Can get -10°C here tonight, so I'll try to do a test hang. You guys make me feel very underprepared

I have not managed to convince anyone to come along. For some reason people just start looking at me in a funny way when I talk about traveling this far for a couple of hammocking nights. People need...
Nice northern lights timelapse (I think it's actually from the last few days)

@Moski: What friend of mine? As far as I know I'm going...
I checked a while back. There's no direct route. Going by airline is 5 hours plus bus/train to the airport from home and I would need additional transportation to/from the airport in Gällivare. That,...
Yes, my quilts are winter edition.
I'll drive this route (E45 most of the way) and try to find somewhere to park and hang along the way. I do remember seeing more than a few trees when driving up...
I've had little time to plan/test/pack or post about the lack of it so far this year. I'll probably end up throwing everything I can think of in the car on my way out the door. I think I have two...
If that is the case, I think we should just keep driving north until the temperature drops below 0, hehe. A few miles more is well worth it after traveling so far if it means escaping wet weather!
...
I was planning to do a hanging/skiing/pulk trip over new years weekend, but with the recent warm and wet weather the nearest skiing conditions are hours away :(
I may have to do a sea kayak trip...
Skis with character eh? Maybe I need to bring some old wooden ones. If only I had living boots that fit them. I may need a trip to the cobbler to resurrect an ancient pair :)
-Frikk
What about your very nice homemade one? Not large enough?
You're not tempted to DIY again?

I've decided to upgrade from my ripped Chinook tarp to a Superfly. Hopefully the new tarp will be big enough to cover me nicely in the winter. If I feel it will be too small I'll get a huge, cheap...
I'll try to muster up some courage to offer another piece of my soul to the dreaded social media. I was hoping I wouldn't have to :)
Edit: They wont allow my alias and there's no way I'm using my...
Bieggolmai:
That pulk
is
AWESOME!
-Frikk
I had to wikipedia that. You're even older than I thought!
-Frikk
Looks too nice Joz: You'll need to dent and scratch it a little to make it look like it's been out the door before.
Sounds like it could do nicely as a wall under one end of the tarp!
-Frikk
Thanks. At least I will look experienced, even though I'm not, with that worn piece of equipment :)
Never trust a guy with shiny gear and all that, hehe.
-Frikk
I paid NOK1000,- for it. Old and beaten ("Fjellpulken" about 160cm long), but working and since it's complete with poles and a harness I didn't bother to haggle. I'll fill a few minor scrapes with...
So, you're bringing something other than dehydrated potatoes this trip?
Good thing I wont be the only one with wolf attracting MEAT on the menu!
-Frikk
I posted too soon! (or maybe broke the spell by posting) I just got an answer on an old used one that wasn't sold yet :) Complete with poles and everything. With a bit of polish it should hopefully...
Canned beer will thaw nicely by the fire ;)
Seems all the used pulks I find online has already been sold :( :( I may have to go with just a plastic trey and rope after all. New pulks with poles...
Several people with pulks + a couple trips back and forth for firewood could make an excellent track. If you bring snowshoes instead of skis Joz, you get to lead the column going in and set the pace....
I think that's an OK price. Price varies alot with what quality and preparations you want. Here's a norwegian webshop that carries skins: http://www.steggen.no/nettbutikk/skinn/reinskinn/
Some...
I'm curious about the Diesel part. Diesel cars are harder to start in the cold after all. Or are you thinking that the varming plug(s) in the diesel engine block will make starting easier than a...
Only one way to find out! Can always start some bonfires around the car to heat it up, hehe
Or 2774km even. I'm planning to go all the way back home again afterwards ;)

@Moski:
If you're still looking at that bag from sportsnett it looks like I could send it to you by post for about NOK300,- Postage aint cheap :/
-Frikk
Thanks for reminding me about this thread Bieggolmai. I've now reserved feb 17-20 in my calendar and will almost certainly be able to participate. Small caveat concerning employment situation. This...
I'd love to come, but unfortunately I've sunk all my remaining vacation time this year into a USA trip to visit my brother, so I'll have to sit this one out.
Have a nice trip!
-Frikk
Planning this far in advance is impossible, but I'd like to join you again if I can :)
-Frikk
Good trip. Nice people. Nice weather. Sunburned nose. Few mosquitoes. Excellent area. Fishing rod forgotten in car. Luxurious meals.
My GPS track covered for day1: 14.3km, day2: 16.7km, day3:...
I did :)
Thanks
Found/packed most of my stuff now. Some food purchases tomorrow and I'm set. Really looking forward to this! Even fiddled together a wheel with straps so I can "wheelbarrow"...
Just my boat weighs a little more than that, hehe. I had no intention of weighing anything, but as you guys have such detailed weight figures I may have to bring out my bathroom scales and at least...
Did you send it to my NextOfKind (Mother) ? I don't think that's a good idea. She'll just get confused. Don't contact them with anything other than my confirmed death ;)
-Frikk
Pack swimming trunks just in case ;)
-Frikk
My point was that NOK isn't going to cut it, I'll have to exchange for some SEK or € or something
Fishing contests with me is no contest. I never catch anything :)
-Frikk
We'll see about the parking when we get there. Do you think the parking fee/
road tax guy accepts paypal or do I have to exchange some cash? :)
If I'm the only one with a fishing rod, that puts a...
Silly me just spent half an hour trying to locate a systembolag that was along my driving route just to facepalm myself after realizing everything is of course closed on Thursday. That's why we have...
On my Garmin GPS map I see a small waterway going parallel to that first trail. The easiest for me would be to wade/drag the kayak there I think. If there's little or no water there I can carry all...
I think the canoe is heavier. Both vessels are made from heavy plastic. I'll probably choose the (sea) kayak to satisfy Bieggolmai
Tännäs is probably easiest? Date, time and coordinates...
Looks like I will be able to join, but I have to be home by mid-day on Monday 6th for a doctors appointment so I'll leave you no later than Sunday and sleep near the car the last night before doing...
The "Official cleaning" is something done in select waters here in Norway to prevent the spreading of Gyrodactylus Salaris (and possibly some other stuff? ). I guess it's naturally occurring or not...
Ok, lets keep everything here in the thread :)
According to google "Spång" is Footbridge in english
-Frikk
Watched http://www.wizardsofthepct.com this weekend. I think I need to just go ahead and order those airline tickets soon ;)
-Frikk
I'm thinking about exposing myself to the curse again, but it will have to involve either kajakk or canoe.
