Dual purpose gear. A definite plus!
Up until recently, the soft soil wouldn't have been in an issue in my part of Texas.
Prior to the record rains, the issue would have been how to pound the stakes into the ground!
No big rocks were available but could have probably used some heavy logs.
I am with you that the twisted stake looks gimmicky.
BTW, was sleeping nicely in my WB Traveler until half the tarp...
I plan on watching the video of this in the previously mentioned thread.
Okay. I think this is the thread you were talking about:

Just didn't see it when I searched initially.
These look interesting, but not sure how they would be much different than what I had.
The twisted ones look like a pain to mess with.
Could have easily done this as I had access to logs.
Got to take my new DD Tarp out this past weekend (first time I have used a tarp). The area I was hanging in had recently receive a good deal of rainfall. Thus the soil was soft. I anchored my tarp...
I'd be in for four, provided you have any left.
I'll play...
1. Yes
2. A (in that I have to travel about 2 hours to get to the nearest state park with trees).
Dang near a majority of the trees in the area! :-)
Where are you hanging around Snyder? Not many trees in west Texas.
I would be interested in this as they would decrease my drive time 2-3 hours and would, thus, be more doable for me.

Nice, quick setup. I occasionally find myself over at the Bushcraft USA site. Cool stuff there.

Garage hangin' is better than no hangin' at all! :)

I haven't really worried about pack weight yet, at least not to the degree that others on here do, but 85 lbs!@#? You have got to get the kitchen sink out of...

Kind of like the fact that sometimes it's best to drop your line in the water with no bait on the hook. :D
