Sold. Thanks.
Warbonnet Blackbird 1.7 single layer. I have had it about 1 year. I used it for one week in the Boundary Waters and for a few nights locally and at home. I decided I like the Switchback better so I...
This, yes. They are more protective of their canoes than Enterprise is about their rental cars. Those kevlar boats are a lot less fragile than they will have you believe. But, I am also protective...
I'm requesting some help from you fine folks in the area that might know more about this neck of the woods than I do. Coming up on September 10 I'm participating in a 10K obstacle course to support...
Hello from Wisconsin, USA. I don't think I would want to sleep on the ground with the variety of critters you have there, either.
Thanks for the photos. It is sometimes overwhelming to search for things with decent photos.
Ours arrived today and it sure is purty!! :D
My hubs got a set of adjustable poles with the snowshoes he bought last year. I'm pretty sure I'll be confiscating them soon.
Super easy to switch out the suspension. As soon as I had my whoopie slings made, off came the stock stuff. Those crazy heavy (and sharp) carabiners were goners as well. Picked up some decent ones...
Yet another good tidbit of knowledge gained from the interwebs.
I'm a sucker for a sale!
Yes, let the machine do the work!
Hello and welcome from Black River Falls!
Same here. I'm sure it works great but I'm chicken. It would be easier for me to block out the thought of a tree falling on me than my bike tipping over on me.
Stumbled across the website through a friend's facebook page. There are also lots of photos of the product in the inventor's facebook albums.
Awesome, thanks. Perfect timing for me to buy my hubby a hammock since his DIY efforts have been sidetracked by broken lawn mowers.
I just found this app about a week ago and it makes me not want to throw my phone through the window quite as much.
I would probably opt to get the backpack last. Maybe you have a older regular backpack that you could use in the interim?
Great story! Sounds like the type of thing that goes on around here. All in good fun.
Fantastic job!! That looks wonderful and very comfy!
Yes, what they ^ said.
Thanks, everyone. It's cool to share this enthusiasm with like-minded folks! My co-workers think I'm crazy but I think they are jealous more than anything. They worry too much about what other...
Which strands to cut in order to get the tapered end? I made some without cutting any strands and it worked fine. Otherwise, I'm not sure it really matters which ones you cut. Just pick a strand...
You mean "sister" but that's ok! ;)
I told myself I wouldn't act like a kid at Christmas when my Blackbird arrived but I just can't help myself. I told myself I wouldn't come to HF first to announce its arrival but I just can't help...
Nice introduction! My husband thinks I'm crazy but he is into flashlights and knives so.....
Good job! No way would I want to tackle something like that.
Neat. It looks extra soothing!
Yep, once I gave in and had the hubby get me some wire and I quit messing around with needles and tape it went really smooth.
I made my first set of whoopie slings last night. I had to show my husband how to do it. I'm kind of doing things backwards...making the slings first and next will be the hammock.
ETA: I had...
We are in Black River Falls. The river here offers some great canoe trips although water levels have been low. Maybe the rain this weekend will help with that. I have some family in Eagle River.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to soaking up as much knowledge as possible from all of you. And yes, I will be sure to read up on cold weather insulation. My husband could...
Hello! I'm so glad I discovered this forum although I wish I would have found it a few months sooner. Three years ago my husband introduced me to the Boundary Waters and so far we've been able to...
This, exactly.
Knitting has been one of my hobbies for a while and I would much rather give a handknit item away to someone who will appreciate it and use/wear it over being asked by people if I...
I gotta say that I would feel like my husband was being selfish if he were to spend the time (probably years) planning a thru-hike, then spending money on gear, etc., for it, then actually doing it...
Um, haven't you seen 127 hours? Just kidding. Sounds like an awesome trip. I would love to go on a solo trip sometime but I would probably go to the Boundary Waters.
