Good to know. Looks like I'll make the drive up from St. Petersburg the last day. Is anyone staying the night Monday in to Tuesday?
I have the same question, also anyone know how many vendors will still be set up on Monday? I work that weekend, but live close enough to make it for a few hours Monday morning.
I understand not using mule tape around the tree, that's why I asked the question. Is it really that much of a weight savings vs just using 1 inch webbing? What's the Weight of 10 foot worth of mule...
I'm 6'10" my son has a 9' hammock that is way to short for me to comfortable sleep in, I can hang around it it for a few hours but it gets uncomfortable. I have a few 11.5 foot hammocks and find them...
Are you guys using the mule tape to go around the trees here? or are you going tree strap-mule tape-CL? Is the mule tape that much lighter then the webbing used for tree straps? I am trying to...
What's the difference between the right lay vs the left lay? I understand the way your supposd to lay, but how is it constructed different? I have made about a dozen gathered end hammocks, and I tend...
That's my thought. I have used these one just about every hammock I've made and have yet to have an issue with them.
I'm just now making myself a under quilt with n that I picked up last year. Now that they are back I might have to rip apart the second one and double stuff it. Are they just as effective if you just...
I plan on being there with my family. Wife and 2 kids 6yo boy 3 yo girl.
Nice looking sack. It gets addicting man. What I found best is when Joe Ann's has a 60% off coupon, is go buy a bunch of yards of fabric and just make stuff. Also blue poly tarp makes a good cheap...
I like that. Thanks for linking it. That might be the way I go.
I'm revisiting this idea, I wonder what temp it might get to if I folded it in half, and made it a half length underquilt?
I got 3 of the 84's today to make a bug net for my hammock. I tried it with 2 and it was about 12" short for my hammock.
Would adding 2x4' bolted to the bottom of the 4x4's help stabile it under the ground? Or dig the hole big enough to put a 5 gallon bucket in e ground, then pour concret into the bucket and put that...
I just used eye bolts into a stud,
That's how I have my sons set up. I want to set mine that way, I just need to make loops for mine. I like it because it gives a quick option for a shorter hang.
And I just ordered a XL blank my self. I manly intend it to be a hanging out hammock anyways, so I think I'm going to give it a go until I can get my hands on 4 yards of that 72" wide HyperD
Welcome. I did the same thing and started out DIY. I'm about to me my 4th hammock, and went with a simple table cloth hammock, wi straps and cinch buckles.
I've been using harbor freight 1 inch webbing for a while with no issues.
Does the side really matter for a tie out reinforcment?
Just seams like it wouldn't make a good reinforcement patch if it wasn't sewn across.
Is there a write up on how to do the reinforcement pockets? I can't quite wrap my head around how it works.
It's really not to hard. I can hardly sew a straight line. I think the real hard part is layout and cutting. I'm trying to figure out a designe to make a "bath tub" bottom pack. This one turned out a...
Cool, thank you for replying.
I like it. Have you tried a king the UQ? I'm curious to see how small it can be packed and its weight.
The blue one comes in at a slim 2.76oz. But it is designed as a kids pack, has no pockets, or frame of any sort. The green one, with its plastic frame sheet(old cutting board) is 11.76oz.
Don't fear the Whoopie. I'm about 6'10" and have weighed almost 300lbs while laying in my hammock with whoopsies and 1 inch tree straps. Also had 3 kids in there with me once. I'm now down to about...
Well aren't you Just the nicest son.
Sense it's been 90 degrees most days, I traded my table saw for a thread injector. Been working on a few projects
I picked up a 5x7 tarp at Walmart and pulled the grommets out and put tie outs on...
Looking at yours was what made me think it wasn't necessary. Did you set yours up so it was able to have doors? I am planning a hex to save some weight, but might do a rectangle later for rougher...
Welcome for a St. Petersburg hanger.
Not bad at all. I might try making integrated bugnet hammock in the next month or so.
Any idea on what it's going to cost regularly? Being the way to tall guy I am I'd love a wider hammock.
Sous that just a hex tarp with no cat cuts? Looks like a nice tight pitch. Looks like everyone is getting good pitchs with out the cat cuts. I was planning on making a cat cut hex tarp, but I might...
I only got 6 yards. Was only planning on 4, but my 3 year old daughter saw the purple and said "daddy I want a purple hammock please" so I couldn't say no. Plus I figured a 6 foot hammock might be...
Howdy from Pinellas County.
As far as I can tell the Dutch gear hammocks are the lightest. Also his Kevlar tree straps are pretty light. Get a Cuban fiber tarp and you should be able to have it under 2.5. Unless you want that...
I just got 60'
Also JoAnn's has rip stop 50% off this weekend.
If you do id like a report. I think that's what I might do. should cover most the year in Florida. Its more weight then I want to carry, but I figure I can take it for a little while till I can...
Can anyone post pictures of there blanket converted to a underquilt? I'm really interested in a set as a TQ and UQ.
I do box stitches with bar tacks. I've hung a few hundred hours on my set of tree straps with no signs failure to note.
I currently just have a DIY asym. Blue tarp, that just barley covers it, but I haven't done an overnight stay at all. I plan on doing a DIY Gear Supply Hex tarp in a few weeks, and I'm gonna make it...
Another tall guy here, 6'10", My Hammock is 11.75 feet or so? I got 4 yards of JoAnns ripstop to make mine then I rolled the edges for a hem. I like the extra length. I would like to try a wider...
Im thinking this would be a good first out for me, but that sounds really hot for a night owl like my self.
I wont be able to make it. My kids b-day party is Saturday, and i thought it was Sunday. Hope I can make another one soon.
Welcome, Im in St. Petersburg too.
I might be interested in this. I have to check with the wife, and I would most likely only be able to do Friday night and have to leave at the half day point on Saturday. I just have to get a few...
I would like to be "in"
The few times I have slept in my hammock have been from 8am-2pm(I work over nights). What I have used for both light blocking, and a slight pillow, is one of my sons 47"x47" muslin cotton blankets....
I have the same experence as him.
