Wow that's awesome man, I AM IN :D :D :D :D
I'm in, and I would love to be able to donate the tarp to my brother(who is in need)
bluefields181, love the invader zim icon
1camper, I don't know about VA. in the summer, but down south we get a lot of mosquitoes and gnats flying around and you would be driven crazy if you don't have a bug net.
Buddy oh Pal, it's so nice of you to buy this for me
Looks like Fronkey won the posting war by 2 mins
Peanut is so cute with those eyes and that tongue hanging out.
Sounds like you have a keeper there ;)
My wife has been slacking and hasn't won me anything like that before :(
As others have stated, just add a "drip line" to prevent the water from getting to your hammock.
Yeah that would be a good use of the CRL.
Yes, your snakeskin would work the same way by just slidding over everything including the ridgeline. But I don't see the need for a CRL on a tarp, as it would just be a waste of ~10ft of line,...
Thanks for the right-up convert. I have heard that tyvek was weaker than nylon but I did not know it was that bad. I wish that I lived in GA, so that I could get the tyvek for the boys in my troop to...
It sounds like I better cut back on my length of cord :(
canteen, how much stuff do you have for sale. Been seeing all types of your stuff over the place.
I know some of my personal sanitizing processes in the past has just been fabreeze
How much are you wanting to spend on it?
make sure you wash the down, who knows where its been
Exactly what Shug said. I know I have run into a park ranger that was high on power, better safe than sorry.
Does the hike or camping sites ever get Sloppy?
Sorry I just had to
Whoopie slings use amsteel, which is a hollow core and allows you to adjust the length of rope you need and everything locks into place once pressure is put onto the rope, like a chinese finger lock....
I have 1,000,000 ft on both sides
I am no gram weenie
I like this idea of using the oxygen line and I just happen to have some :D
I would not trust it either, you never know what short cuts that they used. But if you had to use it or wanted to give it a try, this is my idea.
I would attatch a 4x4 to the side and bolt it...
Theres always places to hang to test it out, you just have to get creative.
When I first got my setup I put up two hooks in my apartment, one to a door and one to a window, that way I could test...
Dannytoo, it is really nice here that everyone is so generous here with their information.
It looks like a great price for a hammock and it is free to sign up, but the sale ends today at midnight :( https://www.planetgear.com
If you need it, here is a link for the ridgeline lengths that different people use
http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39546&highlight=Ridgeline+length
A ridgeline would be the way to go, that way you wont have to worry about getting the adjustment just right after the getting it set up.
Atleast you were in your basement and not 100 miles away from your home
ps. that donating member looks nice under your name :D
Welcome to the forum.
I can't think of any plans for tarps right off the type of my head, but on diygearsupply they have some good plans that will help out with sewing and some other diy items
...
Thanks for the reply and I am glad that your recovery went well.
Nice job, that first concept pic is what made the project a great one :D
I have a superfly and love it, but with the winds here in west texas I need something to go all the way to the ground or I will wake up in the morning covered in durt
So my idea on my DIY Tarp is to have the seams run vertical instead of along the ridge line. This would allow me to make the ultimate winter tarp, so that I could stand up in the tarp and not have to...
Another great place to start is SHUG's video's on youtube
It sounds like it would work to me, anyone with more experience have an opinion?
Any good sewing machine will work and I think that people use between a 9-14 needle, as long as they are sharp.
The winners are Dannytoo and sail1987. They get 30ft each :)
I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving
The give-away will end in 1.5 hours and I will announce the winners tomorrow night
I have done the same thing and have learned over time that just because it looks cool in the store doesnt mean that I need it or that it is the best tool for the job
I am glad that they do yellow, as it is more visable for any tie-outs. Being an Assistant Scout Master I need something that is noticable, since the boys are not paying attention most of the time...
I wish that I lived around there and that I could go.
Happy Thanksgiving to every. As a way to give back I am offering up some free Yellow Amsteel Blue. It is to early to think about how much I will be giving away and to how many people.
Rules: 1...
nice job on your project
photo links did not work for me
Here is a Youtube video made by one of the members here, opie..., and it should give you an idea of how to attatch the whoopie slings to your hammock.
