Sweet, I'm camping next week. Hoping I can take a new traveler with me
Watched the video this morning, thanks.
I'm thinking of camping half way between Scales and Rhodo Gap. Looks like I may have trees there, what do you think?
Thanks. I'm doing that trail next weekend
Good deal Dave. We are only doing an overnight, his first one.
I'm looking forward to getting out of this heat here on the coast. Highs in the 80's sounds wonderful, hope it doesn't rain.
Thank you Ewker.
I've waffled back and forth between Crest and Pine Mountain. Crest for the views and like you said Pine maybe cooler. I may make that call when we get to Scales.
I've looked...
I am taking the 10 year old nephew hiking next weekend (7/30). I thought that we would leave the park going north to Scales then back south along the Crest Trail. I plan on spending the night on...
That's what I was trying to say.
Outandback,
I kept the 2.2 on my tarps that had linelocs. What I have found that works for me is just put a slippery half hitch with the tag end around the working line. Pull the line down until...
Wags,
I did the same thing with a 1.75 ridgeline and 1.75 softshackles. Kliemheist with 5 or so wraps held well.
I want one
I'm knid of with Mad on this one. I have both a Zpacks winter tarp and a MLD Hex in spin. From my perspective the cuben MLD was 100 more and only going to save me an ounce or so. I have notice...
I love a cute girl with a Harker's accent.
SE coast here
MLD uses the same line locks. I tighten them then use a slippery half hitch around the working part of the line. Tension on the line keeps the knot tight
I haven't had any problems with my sewn ridgeline from Joe. I've put 7 nights or so under it this year so far and have had no problems. Seems strong enough for me but I can see how someone would...
[QUOTE=thexuprising;479160]Mike O, I'm thinking about giving the all quilts and hammock stuff together too. My hamock is the most bulky piece of gear I carry (excluding my netless hammocks).
QUOTE]...
I have attached my hammock to whoopies with soft shackles. I'm even lazier than you guys, I stuff the UQ, TQ and hammock all together. TQ and sleeping clothes stay in the hammock, zip it up and...
Here is a picture, yes it is a big tarp. 305 grams with ridgeline and tie outs and stuff sack.

Dutch,
when they come to market put me down for 2 pairs as well, please
Shug that was great but yeah a Dutch retaliation would be just as funny.
Nobody mentioned these, I have a bunch and love them. The new ones have aluminum heads

Yes, 100% silicon. Clear
I started out trying Reds design but then after looking I thought that maybe a piece of square tube would work. Hear is what I did this morning. Haven't had a chance to sand it yet but it looks...
I had one at five grams that I thought was pretty good but the chain makes a hell of alot more sense. Off to the hardware store tomorrow..................................
I broke out the aluminum this moning before work. Red, it looks like you are leaving 1/8" between the holes, is that correct? If so, how is the strength side to side.
Red said in his video that he "drilled" so I'm assuming a 1/2 drill bit for the center and 3/4 for the sides. Haven't had a chance to try them yet, maybe later this week.
I'm at 14.5lbs and I'm trying hard to get that to 12 before I add food. Two nights/Three days with food for 15lbs is what I'm shooting for, I understand where you are coming from.
I like it. Have a cuben fiber tarp on order that I wanted to use 1.75mm but didn't like the way that the figure nines held. Thanks, I'll make some this weekend.
I went with Joe because of the weight. That said I have a MLD UQ and TQ with another 2/3 UQ on order, not to mention 2 tarps in spin. You would be happy with both but I think that if you...
Put the foam in the hammock and lay on it. When I finally got around to cutting mine it was asymetrical. If you think about it your feet are over on the right side. I can take a picture tonight if...
I had the same problem, added a bungie cord to the ridgeline on both sides of the tarp. It takes up the slack when you put your full weight in the hammock.
B4DWolf
I am your weight and I have both. The 1.1 does have a little calf ridge but I have been able to work through that by shortening the ridgeline a touch and hanging the feet a little higher....
How much does the night owl weigh?
Sam,
I have the MLD in spinn. You'll like it alot.
Somebody buy it. I'll wait and see if I can't get one in green.
Okay, I'm interested. What is the ridgeline length and width?
I have a double 1.1 at 240lbs. Some ridge at the calfs but nothing I can't live with for the weight.............................if that helps you decision.
Gnome,
How much does your bridge weigh not taking into account the Ti goat poles?
I have a pair of those as well and love them.
Good to know that I wasn't the only one with that problem. I think I found a solution though...........bungee cord. Tarp to the fixed point on the bipods, seemed that if I had everything else...
Jim,
I looked at the commercial system but shipping was as much as the acutal product.
Are you hanging a tarp from your ridgeline between the bipods?
James, you can use rebar in a long length or something like this that I got from home depot.

Do a search and you will...
nevermind, I thought it was a double. Need more coffee this morning.

Glass jar, mix mineral spirits and 100% clear silicone four to one. Paint on the seam with a foam paint brush. The liquid penetrates the threads and holes better. No mess to clean up.
I believe those poles are 6 feet, 72 inches. Look for a post from Warbonnet I think he made some that were collapsible but I don't know what the weighed.
Split, those all seem good but I need four to anchor my treeless system, kind of expensive. ...
How big Al Angle did you use. Was 1 1/4 enough?
http://www.toughstake.com/
The Morpho 2P would be a good start but I think it needs to be covered by some sil or cuben to protect it a little. I still think just cuben would be a great idea.
Ridgeline above the tarp?
...
I wonder if you could make a tube out of cuben. Taped seams would probably hold air in a similar fashion to the way it keeps water out in a dry bag. Order a valve from thermarest and you might be...
