I bought my Scout troop some Hammocks and Tarps and that’s what we use now.
Two have gone on and bought their own set ups.
I did look at making them, but it was cheaper to buy.

I use the bubble mat, or a DD underquilt, depending on how cold it is, in Feb I used both.
On top I have a DD Quilt, or again if cold a British Army Arctic bag

We put a hammock village in on a local scout campsite using 5x5 2 ft in the ground, with 6 ft out.

I use mine with a Hennessey, it fits fine, I'm still working on the set up, sometimes I take the elastic a up to the tarp ridge line or might leave them off next time and pull the ends which I clip...

Hi all,
I'm after some advice please.
At the local scout campsite they had the idea of taking down trees and creating camping areas in the woods.
They then proceeded to clear the majority of...
That looks really good, if you don't mind I'd like to print some for my scout troop.
I just fold in half a couple of times and then tie it off with an overhand knot.
West Yorkshire for me.
Well tonight is my first hang in my HH, got it for Christmas but have had other things going on until tonight.
Could I get some in the UK for our hangers to put on our camp blankets?
I am happy to pay the extra P&P.
Mine has been up today and I also hung my Hennessy Explorer off it too.
No pictures as the garden is still a total mess.
Here it is:
There was a link on one of the posts from Jason.
Good news is mine has arrived, bad news is I have to cut the grass before I'm allowed to put it up in the garden.
Got home from a day out to find a little card from the post man.
I've got to go to the collection office tomorrow and hopefully it will be my stand.
C'mon guys, Jason is, i'm sure, doing his best to get the kit out to you as soon as he can.
A little patience and you'll get the stand & hammock as soon as the HS postal service can get it to you. ...
Just ordered mine
I'm in, for one complete set
and 5 hours later I read the actual thread and sent the PM.
Tagged to keep informed about the HH
I would be interested in a set of stands, but will I qualify living in the UK?
On the flip side, I have put my Hammock in the car and am actually looking for a pair of trees so I can put it up for the first time!
Next thought is some support pillars at work in the office.
I will look with interest at the video.
I accept that if you use a Sheetbend as a Bowline the pull is through different parts of the knot so it may not be as strong. I would be interested if the...
Rob,
Tie them both and compare the knot.
You could argue the the bowline is a sheetbend tied with a single piece of rope.
and have you noticed that the Bowline and Sheet Bend are the same knot?
Oh and I will turn any length of string/cord/rope into a Turkshead Woggle.
My favourite knot is the Hunters Bend.
You can usually tell when I have used one if the Scout Group's tents as all the guy lines are are now attached with Bowlines.
The one I seem to tie all the...
Ditto, long range plan for my daughter.
First chance to get back on the forum.
My daughter was born 12 Jan by emergency Caesarian, both mum and her are healthy and sleep a distant memory 😃
Something that I always carry when out hiking is a Bothy Bag, which is essentially a big bag that 2 or 3 people can get in and provides a dry shelter that gets warm really quickly and whilst they...
Just to reassure you guys over the pond, but we have the same problems here in the UK, but with different couriers, so far DHL and City Link.
I have something in transit at the moment where the...
Congratulations, I'm waiting for my daughter to arrive, my wife has been in and out of hospital since Christmas Day.
I've just gotten hands on my Explorer Deluxe and Hex Tarp, ordered in Oct but it was sent to Santa.
It does say that the tarp should go on it's own suspension due to wind profile, but I'm hoping...
and another 'Hi' from Yorkshire, I too have an Explorer Deluxe, but mine is still in the loft until Santa brings it in a few days time.
I've bought Bubble Pad to go with my Hennessy but don't get it 'til Christmas.
I have been looking at the Snugpak over quilt, but struggling to convince myself I really need one.
It's arrived.
Just need to get home and unpack it.
There are quite a few hangers here in the Heavy Woollen District in Yorkshire and my group, Hanging Heaton are about to get two more leaders and we may start some of the scouts too.
Another " 'ow do" from Yorkshire.
Ordered this morning, I have just received the shipping email. Can't wait.
Well after months of looking I have finally ordered my hammock, I'm getting the explorer deluxe with hex fly. I've also gone for the bubble mat as when I have borrowed a friends hammock I was fine in...
Hello everyone,
My name is Shaun and I am about to buy a hammock.
I have decided on a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe, but am still thinking over the insulation options.
Although at the moment I am...
