Awesome idea. I've been trying out the diagonal as well (as a pod) but it's still in clothes peg mode. I'm scared of the thread injector. :scared: Looks like a very nice & neat sewing job. Would love...

Watched the vids:thumbup1:, got the idea to hang the hammock in the park for some fun for the evening... you know, be in the woods and let it get dark... get comfy with the dark after all that talk...
Been doing this a fair amount... A possible quick way of going to ground I guess.
Jeepers.. yes it is.. Doh! The second one this week. Must have been a marketing angle.. or I guess not using the brand "Amsteel".. Thanks for the heads up.
Just thought it was interesting coming from a larger company. A whoopie made out of dyneema something different too. Just was curious.
Ah! Dang nabbit... got suckered by an old post. @gargoyle thanks for the heads up.. still curious though... without pics it's all gibberish to me.
Curious what you did @gmitchell... can't see the photos.
Broke down, bought the app.. have the book too.. I was just thinking that it would be awesome if you could take a photo and check your hang angels.. now that would be slick too. The clinometer rocks...
Just read a review on this suspension system at trailspace but would love to see some more pics of how the setup works. They are currently at REI online. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts?
Actually I'm north of ya towards the coastal mtns on the Canuck side. My folks live in Langley. Through the area often.
Hey I'm your hood too.. well sorta. :) Welcome.
I've had some wetting issues with my silponcho and read this: http://dzjow.com/2012/06/18/how-to-re-coat-a-shelter/
I figure a re-coat would help make it repel but haven't tried it yet. To me it...
Just a guess here but.. How long have you had your tarp? It may need a sil coat refresher. At least I've heard of people doing this before. What kind of 1.1 did you buy? Curious.
Just getting into hammocks and hoping to do a camp out sometime but missing the final piece of the puzzle… the tarp. This would be my first real DIY project so I might order just a wee bit of extra...
Any pics of this?? Sounds very interesting. Just been having fun with the blankets themselves. Hoping to makes these into my UQ. Trying to gather some ideas before attempting any cuts etc. Still...
Just got the hang app to help the nerd inside. Seems to be working :) Thanks for the info @SptiballJedi and math suggestions. I won't profess to get it still but at least I will have a reference to...
@SpitballJedi
I thought so.. if the below conditions where met...
-you hang your ridgeline not too tight or too slack
-the trees aren't eons apart
-you have the intent of recreating a 30...
Cool idea!! I will have to work up the gumption to hang. I'm a fair weather hiker and get chilled easily in above freezing temps, so this would be a real challenge personally. Shug always makes it...
Maybe this isn't a good idea? Too many twists in the amsteel? The soft shackle & better soft shackle with splice for boobin doodad. Been trying to avoid Amsteel on Amsteel or Amsteel on Mule Tape....
From what I've heard.. sounds like mule tape snags on trees a fair amount. It might not be quite the right material to be made up into 2 inch straps? I have had it snag on my factory continuous loop...
Dagnabitt. Great get!!
Wow looks like a great bag for price. Too bad there is not a shop for a few miles around the West Coast. Enjoy. PS Welcome to HF and getting your feet wet on a post. :)
That simulator is awesome.. Anyone know if there is a phone app sorta like this??
@SilvrSurfr: I will keep my eye on the fallen ones.. but those seem to be more cottonwoods than cedars, unless a crazy wind storm comes along.
@bubba: Pretty sure the hang was over 30 but as a...
Have you tried a soft shackle yet? I've been having fun with those.
Just what I was looking for. Thanks for posting just downloaded. Feels like going back to school... but funner.
Nice work!!
@SGT Rock.. Good food for thought. Just working with what I've got right now.. Always good to see what works for others... No shortage of options... but I like that :) ~Cnugget
I recently did a test hang on a Cedar Tree. When I pulled the straps off I saw this...:scared:

Isn't 83% the perfect snowflake? Don't count yourself short. Sounds like an awesome setup.. I just wish I could find my happy place.. It's seems illusive to me.
Just waded through the mammoth thread https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/9059-Loop-Shackles-Connectors-aka-The-Nacrabiner . Just wondering if anyone has ever used the ferrule to...

If you exceed a certain percentage on your ridgeline, would you also be exceeding the ideal 30 degree hang from the trees too? ~Cnugget
Called the BLI Costco in WA they have 288 on order but they haven't been shipped yet... Once shipped they will have an arrival ETA. Sounds like they haven't made it out West yet... ~Cnugget
