I'll assume you meant Hammock, not tarp. Not sure what is wrong, but I'd just think of your eno as 9'10" (pretty much a 10' hammock).

Did you have a ridgeline attached to hammock?... Was it pulled straight when measured? 8'6" sounds awfully short
