My wife and I have done this a couple times now using our trekking poles. I just used a couple small pieces of para cord to tie them to the end of the hammocks. It's worked real good for us so far...

I tried it once and it kept me warm but my ol' lady found out I had her/our comforter and hung it so close to the dirt she was "upset" with me but I'm still here today but barely.............so keep...
Think I caught the bug myself. I got some Amsteel on order right now that I don't have to have right now but........I need it. :laugh:

It's a Hurd super caster I got from my uncle because it belonged to my grand father that I never met. It was made in the 1940's and I think it was a prototype out of Detroit Michigan and my gramps...

Mine not only stretched out real bad the one of the loops ripped off sending two nieces to the ground. Not far down though but scared the you know what out of them. After that i upgraded my straps...

I do what tbone said and tie 3dead sticks together for a tripod and it has worked great for me. I look for sticks tall enough for me easily reach my pack from my hammock if I need to.

Sounds like fun. Hopefully i can make it as i've never camped in the snow. i like the idea of maybe a cheap "white elephant" thing....or in our case maybe a "white hammock" gift thing.
Hey Shug I saw that video where you came across that wolf....how awesome/scary was that? My wife is a huge wolf fan so she thought it was pretty wild too.
