Count me in. Love my Dutchware!
Welcome Byron and War Eagle!

I took a closer look at Lazy River Road's image in the gallery and I believe that the 'stitch' is the inside of a seam, or the backside of the seam. It looks just like mine in the pictures, below,...
I do not own one of Hammock Gear's quilts, but my DIY (see my gallery) was based heavily on his previous design.
The design may have changed slightly over the last year, because images on his site...
Around 2005, or so, I was getting into Fly Fishing. I read an article that mentioned a Hennessy being used on fishing trips. I looked and drooled at these for a couple of years off and on, but I...
Maybe Wayah Bald? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayah_Bald
This is not really above the climatic treeline, but this is near Nantahala and is treeless.
Good Luck,

Woot! Thanks for the fun contest. I hope the Flight Jacket takes off.
I was shocked when I received the e-mail this morning.
I am looking forward to seeing the quilt in person and will report...

Sounds like fun!!! I'm in!
If the hole is along the same line as one of your baffles, you could add a piece of your shell material the same width as your baffle height and make a collar. This would prevent having to compress...
The footbox will not be an issue. As you said, it is on top and really serves to move the bugnet higher in the foot area.
Look at Dutch's comment to my similar question in the following post.
http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17242
You need to also include material for your baffle height on the...
I am interested, but will have to check on the dates.
Welcome, Eric, from Huntsville (Madison/Harvest) area.
Welcome, WarEagle86, from an AU Alum.
I have the Blackbird 1.7 Dbl and have been happy.
I guess the biggest difference will be the 'structural ridgeline' in the Traveler.
Like others have...
I am 6' and have used this in the footbox of my quilt. I usually place a shirt or fleece under my knees to help keep them slightly bent to avoid knee pain.
Since the area between the UQ and the...
Welcome, from Madison.

Payment sent.
Thanks, Opie.

Yes, you need to best approximate the total volume of the object that you are filling with down, so if you are wanting 3", I would suggest using that for your calculations.
You may want to look at the Quilt Comparison Chart that Adam provided on Google Docs:

Welcome from another Alabama hanger.

I just donated for the first time. Been meaning to do this for a while.

I couldn't edit my original post, but I retrieved the following pictures off of my phone. They show the inside and outside pieces of the UQ just before trimming the extra material off of the top...
I recently posted about my DIY winter quilt and the way I handled this was to just fold the extra baffle material out of the way. So if you look at the top and bottom of my quilt the baffle stitch...
I used 3 yards, but the material was 60" wide. Since I didn't make a full length and decided to use grosgrain ribbon for the suspension channels instead of the shell material, I was able to do this....
Nice job! How much down did you need for the quilt?
Shevy77
I don't mind at all.
I bought the down in a group buy in November of '09, I believe, and it was 25.50 per 3 oz, so that was $102. Shipping was $9.50.
The momentum is $13.49 per yard, now on...
Thanks for the positive comments.
For the marking, I used a silver metallic Sharpie marker. I highly recommend this method for the darker fabrics. There was no bleed through and when sewing the...
I am finally getting around to posting about my UQ that I finished over the Christmas break. I ordered materials (12 oz. of speer 900 fp down and 3 yards of black momentum), last winter and started...

Welcome from Huntsville!
Welcome from Huntsville!
Thanks Dblcorona.
That is what I figured most were trying to do, but it seemed like some were a little shy of being full length.

I am still in the planning stages for my first DIY UQ. It has been a long summer of chores and I am finally getting some time to spend working on this.
One thing that I have noticed while looking...
Welcome TigerStripes, I am also in N. AL and an AU grad. (assuming something about your name).
I think that you will like the WBBB 1.7. I have the same one and it is very comfortable and well...
Welcome, from Huntsville!

Did you try to right click the image and then play around with the 'wrap' options? You should be able to do what you are wanting to do. Good luck.

I have not felt the taffeta version, but I really can't feel the ridges from the reinforcement grid in the ripstop version. To me it feels very soft and has a very nice feel to it. The grid is very...
Well, I just ordered two more yards of the momentum in coyote. Now, I should have plenty of material to make the size UQ that I am wanting. I guess that this mistake cost me one yard of fabric, but...
Yea, if the color that Dalton is using is the grey green, it doesn't appear to have any green tint.
Dalton,
Have you been happy with your pleats and the tapered shape? I was thinking of doing...
Dutch,
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, I think that you are right.
I could make the quilt a little smaller, but that is not the route I want to take.
So, I have 3 yards of black...

After recently completing my tarp, I am turning my attention to an UQ project. I have three yards of 60" wide material and 12 oz. of down. I asked previously and everyone suggested to go ahead and...
Thanks for all of the compliments.
I am just glad to have it finished so that I may begin using the tarp.
Now, I get to start on my second DIY project, a UQ. It is going to be a fairly warm (I...
Well, it only took a few months to complete, but I have finished my first DIY project, a 12x11 Blackcat tarp.
With a 3 year old and a 5 month old daughter, I underestimated how long this would...
