First you have to think about what makes a dog a good apartment dog and the realities of your daily schedule. It isn't based on size. Large breeds can do just fine in an apartment IF they are getting...
Maybe switch to a stove that doesn't use wood and don't have an open fire.
You don't need one for camping, and you can still enjoy the outdoors.
I'll look into tear-aide, just want a little something extra so the soft spot doesn't go ary on a trip.
Thanks!
Hey all,
I was lucky enough to score a used great double layer wbbb 1.1 and I love it, but it has a few spots I'd like to patch. One is a thumb-sized hole in the bug netting near the seam, and...
In Maine the regulations in most parks insist that we camp in those over crowded tent villages. I hate them, the sites almsot always seem like they are right on top of each other. But most locals...
Same. :D
I have a lot of family in Vermont, the green mountaineers are good bunch. Burlington gets nutty though.
I have had a lot of conversations with park rangers in Maine, most of them...
Maybe you can put some padding on the ends of the spreader bars. A friend of mine uses treking poles and sticks cut wiffle balls on the sharp ends to avoid accidental spearing. Wiffle balls that are...
Looks great!
Do you have any pictures of it packed down? Is it something a larger dog could carry in it's own pack?
Warbonnet Blackbird
If you are using an underquilt or pad, then that already gives you a protective layer. I have used my underquilt on my HH and nothing's gotten past that yet.
A double layer with a thin pad would...
Look at dream hammocks Darian UL, I think that is the lightest hammock with bug net. It also comes with woopie slings and dutchware (clips etc) out of the box. Down side is that the light hamock cant...
Welcome from Maine. The damp and muddy north at the moment.
One of my best friends is just starting a job at alligator river national park NC. She got down there yesterday :P.
A tarp on a...
I have joined several forums. Forums in which betta fish owners get in fights over PH tester to forums filled with people writing elaborate stories about dragons and banana sundays. I can't think of...
I think it's the brown/eggplant combination that makes this one stand out.
Not really, but it is something to keep an eye on, just don't let the zipper catch on the hammock. I've used a sleeping bag for a long time.
Underquilt or pad is really a matter of personal...

I just got my Hammock Gear camo cuban fiber tarp in the mail. If not for school work I'd drop everything and take it out right now!
I opened it up and I love the weight, compressibility and feel...

Hey all,
Perhaps I am a bit optimistic, but I am still on the lookout for a used blackbird DL.
Would prefer 1.1 fabric but will take what I can get.
Thanks!
Perhaps it's time to get a bedroom hammock stand. :P
The easy, simple set up. Plus the lack of roots in my back.
Welcome to the forums!
I've always wanted to travel to Scotland, hope to see some great trip pictures in the future.
Fancy, I like the logo on the tarp tamer patches.
Will be neat to see how they set up and function.
I think the ENO DN will fit your needs better then the wbbb, though I have seen some old threads where a couple did share a blackbird, they both must have been stronger sleepers then I.
With the...
Looks awesome!
Congrats on the sweet gear.
Haha
Nearly spit out my morning tea.
Ha!
Maybe he'll forgive you if you cook up a little plate of eggs or a tasty snake. :P
This is pretty much what I do.
It adds a bit of weight, but I've found the Cont. loop/woopie hook/woopie/dutch buckle/strap combination works for me.
I use woopies with dutchware. Love the easy adjustability and how fast setup is.
Beware! You are about to open a can of worms. :)
But after you spend a night in a dialed in hammock setup, you'll think groundsleepers are crazy.
Great pictures! Makes me wonder about getting a tarp with doors. My hex works for now though, have a camo hex in the mail. :)
Will be interested in hearing how the stand works out for you!
My last trip to the ground involved waking up in a group tent with all our stuff floating around us. I was on an air mattress that turned into a mini raft, but still, not fun. Then there was the time...
Perfect! :thumbup1:
Congrats on your new gear, get the camera ready for pictures. :)
I know the feeling, I'm number 359.
Can't wait to take this baby out for a test drive!
I use a version of this suspension on my hyperlite:

Check out the picture, describes it better then anything I could say. I love it, also...
If anyone is planning a hang in Maine I'd definitely be interested. Course, we just got snow dumped on us, bu that's never stopped anyone before..
I'll throw a few in, I'm a bit biased though.
Darien UL, Hennessy Hyperlite.
My mom calls my hammock the bear cannoli.
Tents, hmm. Snake coddlers.
Yeah, I can definitely understand that, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask at the time. XP
I'll look into your suggestions, thanks!
I actually emailed warbonnet asking if it would be possible to get a shorter hammock made. No response yet, don't want to be a bother now that it seems their new model is super popular. I am 5'4, and...
Nice! I think there is a thread floating around in which people have figured out how to hang in and between vans xp
Pads, also this site has a lot of do it yourself instruction. Make your own uq with old down sleeping bags and so forth. You can use blankets and sleeping bags as a top quilt no problem. It isnt an...
I like the first one, assuming that you do not have roommates who walk under you and prod you with brooms xp
Thanks, though I think I've got it figured out.
I got a raise on my last paycheck, so I'm ending up with both!
At least I'll have a spare so my friends don't have an excuse not to join...
Adorable.
I will never forget the time I spent with my Dad in the outdoors. He taught me a lot and I treasure the time I got to spend with him.
It's always awesome to see Dad's passing these...
Would prefer the olive green, but if anyone has a used extra I'd like to take it off your hands regardless. Any suspension, I'll sub it out for continuous loops anyway.
Want to get a gift for a...
Mine is my trail name, short for coyote because I was talking about my research in wildlife ecology and did a howl, and a coyote pack answered me. The group called me that after. Not a huge story,...
MDSH, I have never had a problem with my integrated nets touching my face or feet. The ridgeline keeps the net up and out of the way and this complaint is an outlier as opposed to the norm.
