Could it be you're tying the hammock too tight? Possible to get a pic of the hang when you're having the problem?

Could it be you're tying the hammock too tight? Possible to get a pic of the hang when you're having the problem?
+1 on the amazing customer service! Got my order of a new crl with tato tarp connectors and a couple micro biners yesterday. For a minute there I thought I'd also bought a ridge light too without...
Just placed an order, can always use another CRL setup... looking good!
Welcome from Ottawa
I'd say some of the hammock manufacturers could also be doing more to increase awareness... granted they (generally? usually?) come with tree straps, but their use could be promoted better in setup...
Welcome from Ottawa!
Unfortunately, this year's been a bit skimpy on camping opportunities with this being only my 3rd outing of the year, but had a really nice Labour Day Weekend trip with my son and brother.
Headed...
Used to have a Hennessey, loved the ridgline for hanging stuff... if you do end up putting one on, do let us know how it goes and maybe I'll follow suit!
Hey litetrek, congrats on the purchase! I understand the angst of having new gear and not being able to get out there and set it up. Just recently got an NX-250, don't worry about the overall...
OK, took out the NX-250 for a test run, great hammock but for the poles. I can understand the complaints better now. They work, but are finicky to work with, came apart when I was threading them...
MY NX-250 is waiting at home for me... barely able to stay at work at the moment!
I believe you've got to seam seal them yourself, that's based on the option to add-on seam sealer when buying the hammock/tarp.
Now I know some folks are against bringing electronics out into the backcountry, but I do seem to recall someone on here suggesting a phone app called leveler that's got a couple nifty options to...
I've had a similar problem where I end up laying my hand on the bug net at some point during the night and the buggers are able to get me... twice now I've woken up with a straight line of itchy...
I've just ordered the NX-250, but I'm quite a bit bigger than you and figured I needed the room. I have read that people find it large enough to move around some which makes it easier to find a...
I would also tend to hunker down, though in most cases I'm far enough in the bush that I wouldn't have anywhere to retreat anyway. Ridden out a couple of good storms on canoe trips into Algonquin,...
Awesome adventure! You got to see some lovely spots.
I'll update here with what I end up receiving. Depending on the changes it may be worth you contacting them and asking about it. My dealings with Clark Customer Service have always been great.
Just ordered an NX-250 today and got an email from Clark asking if I'd be willing to wait a bit as they're upgrading the flexible poles that come with the hammock.
I'd heard the existing poles are...
+1 on the Turtledog Stand. Build your own, cut it to the height that works for you and you're all set.
At a high-use area of crown land, which means the critters were used to seeing people as a food source, a friend of mine had a racoon try and cart off an entire cooler off into the bush! Cheeky...
Yessir, will be taking advantage of that for sure. Thanks for the heads up!
Looking good, now convinced to upgrade from a Clark NA to the NX-250... thanks for the info!
September! I know, the shame... :(
However, that's all changing... heading out tomorrow morning for a backcountry canoe trip... yay! :D
Welcome from Ottawa!
Hey there, another frequent Algonquin Park hanger here... never had a problem with rangers, in fact one got curious when he heard about a couple of hammockers heading in to the park and he made the...
Nice! Sure looks comfy in there
Well it's a pretty complete package right out of the box, used it basically (tree straps were added) stock for about 6 years before doing any modifications to it.
Just last summer I went to the...
Nice! Welcome to the Clark family... they are a heck of a hammock and I'm sure you'll get plenty of mileage out of yours.
Welcome from Ottawa! You are one lucky dog, lots of great hanging places all around you!
Yup, I imagine that'll be the case soon enough... Cheers!
That'd be three tripods for two hammocks. Top rail is just a black fencing top rail they had at home depot... can't wait to hang next weekend!
Finally got around to knocking out a set of three TDS stands for my son and I to be able to hang in the yard. Used 2x3s just because I like to overbuild things and I'm not the smallest lad out...
I hear ya, long time lurker here as well, just recently started posting.
Welcome to the forum!
Still using rings/webbing here as well... switched my Clark over last Spring and never looked back. Easy setup and adjustments, no loose parts to misplace and the entire suspension stays with the...
It's something I've noticed and appreciate as a huge difference between HF and other forums... searching isn't always easy when you don't know the terms people are using or if you're having a hard...
I'm partial to the descender rings/webbing setup myself. Converted my clark to it last year and found it to be fantastic, easy to adjust in both directions and less finicky then dealing with tree...
I bought the JRB 11x10 last year for use when my son and I are on a trip so our hammocks can be together under one tarp until he's a tad older. It's a pretty versatile piece of gear, though it may...
Nice trip! Can't wait for my return to the 'gonq, another month or so and I should be able to make it out there...
Welcome to the forum!
If you do have some time off the ship, do try and head off into the mountains, you're not too too far from some really great places. Kamikochi in Nagano prefecture has...
Nice pictorial WalksInDark. Tarps are certainly an ongoing obsession, and that's ok! :D
I'd stuck with the stock tarp on both my HH and my Clark until last year when I got my son into hanging,...
Cute kid! and soon to be happy hanging alongside papa. Outfitted my son with a Hennessey Scout last year, he loves it!
JacksRBetter also sells in 50 foot lengths.
Yeah, looks like we're all fixated on the mouse issue... details please!
Looks like you've got a happy kid there, well done! My son was four when I got him his hammock as well, 2 backcountry trips in it last summer and he slept like a baby...
Received my nickname from coworkers way back in ther day... seems I was always on the phone, and the phrase "Mitch is on the phone" was repeated regularly before being shortened to mitchamaphone......
Hey Dagger004! Welcome to the forum, sure someone will be able to answer you on a likely local tablecloth source, can't help you there...
However, I've had luck finding Amsteel at Marine supply...
+1 on JRB's shipping speed, and last time I ordered I even got $10 back on the shipping charge from them "using a smaller box"... nice!
Another paddling hanger over here. I'd say my split at the moment is about 40% car camping to 60% canoe tripping, which is mostly done on crown land here in Ontario. Some of the spots I get into...
All in all a great response from some folks with a lot of hanging experience here... with the amount of mods and gadgets and doodads in use across the whole spectrum of hammocking, it can certainly...
