I think that would work. you would have to be careful of the sheer pressure on those divider bars and the friction they would put on the suspension. but everything is worth a try at least once :)
I'm in, this is awesome! :)
hmmm... image didnt work. try thishttp://http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery/showimage.php?i=19262&c=11
saw this on another site, with the question "is this paradise." the first thought that ran through my head was, no...i don't see anywhere to hang my hammock. :D...
check a local surplus store if you have one, the local store here (armygear.net) carries them for like 15 bucks
okay i've been a long time camper and now i've been a serious backpacker ( which led to hammocker) for about a year now. although just recently i came across the ozark trail here in missouri....
i don't think this insultex would work for an uq. because unlike the insultex you can get at diygearsupply this stuff claims to be very water resistent. which means it probably isn't breathable...
welcome to the forum! it's awesome to see another person from mid mo
don't mean to nag on a personal opinion but here in missouri, how can you pick a favorite? :)
does anyone know much about the new river gorge in west virginia? i'm asking because the summit-bechtal ranch the new boy scout high adventure base is located their and my venture crew is looking...
+1 because right now i don't have an uq so i use the mss and a reflective blanket strung up like an uq
welcome to the forum from sedalia/tipton area. i also did a hang over the weekend could have used an uq :D
here in missouri it hadn't really rained since mid-spring. but recently had a major rain :) and thus i finally got to try out my tadpole. couldn't be happier. you all have some awesome products!
was up ther last month. got to stay in grant, awesome campground, and had come into the park through beartooth hiway. amazing!
i'll try and then hopefully post pics
no not quite a peapod, although yes that would work too, but actually having one layer between you and the hammock and the other layer below the hammock. still would take some slight mods but i think...
i tried to search this couldn't find the answer i want. i want to use lash-it dor my ridgeline. i have spliced diygearsupply's 1.9 techline, is 1.75 lash-it much harder to splice than the techline?
wait! could you use this doubled sleeping bag put ur hammock through it laying on one useless part but the other half hanging below you? using a top quilt above you, surely someone has tried this....
+1 on what grinder said, if you don't like it it's diy just redo it. but if it helps, i am a 6'1" 220lbs and my single layer 1.9 after much use doesn't really show any wear.
being from mo this all interests me. have yet to hang in a state park but with recent succes hammockers had in florida through education i have confidence we will eventually be allowed in our great...
or you could go the diy route. get yourself a crinkle taffeta tablecloth (aka hammock blank) from tableclothsfactory.com. throw on some simple suspension and your good to go! here's the link:...
awesome thanks! :)
it works pretty good for tree huggers than? my freind is getting a couple hhundred feet of it from a local co-op and offered me some.
no ideas but definitely want to see the outcome of all this ponderin. :)
htanks! that is a huge hammock! exactly what i'm looking for in a non-backpacking hammock. and 2lbs is much better than i expected. did you get yours from tablecloth factory or is this the xl hammock...
looking around at different materials for my 2nd diy gathered end. at tableclothsfactory.com does anyone have preference between polyester and crinkle taffeta? also has anyone previously bought these...
i have had mine for several months now. love it! i would say that i'm never going to use anything else, but everyone here says not to jinx myself like that :)
oh! i didn't realize diygearsupply had 72"! my next question then would be will 1.1oz hold up to my 220lbs of weight? or do i need to do a double layer?
Does anybody know where i could get some rip stop that is at least 72" wide. i am going to make a second gathered end and wanted to try a wider one for kicks.
i personally do not believe in putting weight on stitchings, but some do. i whip my gathered end and then lark's head my amsteel whoopie sling below this. a good place to find amsteel is at redden...
as far as the hammock itself goes i have a friend with one, if i had one it would have to be the double hammock at 6'6" wide versus the 4'9' single wide. also i don't like the load bearing stitches...
i am looking for a good set of diy instructions for a 3/4 down underquilt. anyone have one they really like?
+1 they got their Techline(dyneema) that comes in 1.9 and 1.2
+1 i had a guitar string that i bent in half. i then created a "bullet" as if to worm it through but simply pulled it through with the wire
Thanks all! yes i'm aware of bears. yes i will have spray. i'm more worried about what my fellow hikers know, seems i have been dubbed Bear Food:mellow:
So, just found out the trail i will be on next summer. Heart Lake Trail. Has anyone been there, is it good hammock area?
+1 same here:)
i should've said it earlier, my group is going backcountry. all i know about the trail is we will be out for four days (i think) and we hike down to the lake. does anyone know what trail this might...
solved this problem by just (carefully) taking a lighter and heating the edge of the plastic till it bubbles. this creates a nicely rounded edge
Has anyone taken there hammock to yellowstone? I ask because i am going this summer and my scoutmaster is telling me, he was told, the park frowns on hammocks. Something along the lines of "tents...
thank you! all this helps.
i'm going to use shock cord pullouts on my new WL tadpole but what does everyone use to crimp shock cord together?
mainly the cost compared to other brands, and simply i only needed a 3-season tarp. also the tadpole fit nicely over my hammock. all in all it just seemed perfect for me :)
just got my tadpole.....love it! thankyou sooooomuch!
now field test must happen soon:)
Looks great! Although in my opinion, depending on your sense of self security :), i made whoopies with only a 4-6in bury and haven't had any problems. And i'm a big guy at 230lbs. But that is the...
my friend went the coghlans cot net route, and did not like it. it was awkward fitting, heavy, and cheaply made
i ordered a WL tadpole yesterday. and i have heard WL is great with customer service. Anyway my excitement to get my tarp has me wondering how long it usually takes to get ur tarp
16 year old from mid-mo.
i am 6ft tall, with a 9ft hammock, and i have an 80-82in ridgeline and find it comfortable. dont know if this helps.
