Temps only got down to about 60 last night, but with the PLUQ and a light fleece top blanket, I was totally comfortable.
Question on "alignment" of the PLUQ... When inside the hammock, the PLUQ...
I took my first attempt at a pluq today. Successfully, I'd say.
$10 for the poncho liner because some of the tie outs had been cut off. A few minutes on the thread injector to reinforce those...
Even though the legit tyvek tape is more expensive, it's probably worth it. This tape I have is almost like thin white packing tape, and I've already had one section come loose once. The Tyvek tape...
I think I paid about $25-30 on Ebay for the tyvek. And it came in a USPS Flat Rate tyvek envelope. NO WAY could I evvvver get it that small again.
If you imagine 2 packed hammocks in...
Found a good DIY on the PLUQ. I have a local Army Surplus and will probably stop in there very soon. I guess it would be a good idea to grab 2, and use the other as a top quilt. Seems less bulky...
As for the Ninja... I've got 2 bikes right now. 08 Ninja 250R and a 93 VFR750F. The VFR is sorta my project bike, as it is never running right. The Ninja is my 'around town' toy. Not so powerful,...
Since I'm at my parent's, I bummed my mom's iPhone to take a few pics. Totally unrelated, but since the Galaxy was a work-phone, they have changed policy and I am getting an Iphone 4S as a...
So it wasn't really "camping" at all, but my parents live 30 minutes from me, and my knife-shop is behind their house. I decided to drive out last night and pack everything on my Ninja for the haul....
Ooooohh. Ok. that makes way more sense. Thanks!!!
As for the meals... that sounds pretty fair to me too. :D
I'm undecided on whoopies. I have them on my hammock, but use decender rings and long straps on the gf's hammock. The difference in setup time might be 2 minutes total (rings are faster IMO).
Good on you for hooking up the family with hammocks and stuff... But I'd be putting a "materials only" price on the ones for any adults.
Mainstays brand voile curtains, you say... Hmmm... the...
Still all budget-equipment, but I now have 3 hammocks. :)
11'-6" Yukon outfitters Double with whoopies and poly straps

I may as well try it out while I'm setup in the back yard. Better to test and fail here, than to get out to camp and have things fail there.
Yeah, I went through a phase... :)
The only reason I am hesitant to go over the tarp, it's that it is a tyvek tarp with tyvek taped pullouts. I'm worried that the change in load direction would pull the tape lose.
I guess I do...
Thanks guys. I'll try a drip string next.
My ridgeline/suspension is just paracord. It isnt very hydrophobic.
A thunder storm rolled into town this afternoon, so I took the opportunity to jump under the tarp in my taffeta hammock. First thing I noticed was that the hammock had some water spots. Now that I...
Its been up in my yard since past week. Survived sun, wind and a thunderstorm. One of the side tie-outs needs to be retaped because it was in porch style for the rain and sagged too much. All...
I hadn't thought about bunk bed style. What a great idea.
While "working from home" today, I made my first tyvek tarp and just finished my girlfriend's taffeta hammock. Whipped for now around some of my rappelling carabiners until my Amsteel order arrives....
Perfect timing. Now that it is setup in the backyard, and I'm back inside working, the wind is whipping like crazy! One of those super hot summer days where the thick clouds roll through and bring...
Instead of using the bowline hitch on the corners, I used the home wrap tape to make loops. I can already see that I need to reinforce the upper points, but everything seems to be holding pretty...
I just got my Tyvek in the mail today. :D Already worked on softening it up and should be able to get it test-rigged later today.
I am thinking about using some 2" tyvek tape to make folded...
HAHA! I noticed that as well... Thought I might have been re-reading a thread again.
Ok, THAT'S funny! I don't care who ya'are, that's funny.
I'm not either... but I make knives. Some are big and scary. :D
Hanging overnight inside the city, anywhere other than my backyard scares the crap outta me. I'd have to sleep "armed" to be comfortable.
I was looking for input on folded and whipped ends versus sewn channels and got to this thread. JUST in time too!
Thank you for the idea of getting a table runner for the stuff sacks. I had...
I'll check into the end methods. Gf might be 135ish... I'm smart enough to have mever asked. ;)
I now have some aqua taffeta and silver amsteel on the way!
They all look great! And thank you for the link to the tablecloth website! I might have to make a few of these for my kids and gf. :)
What kind of weight-limit do you expect on these? with the...
I came to the forum today with a question, and didn't even have to use the search function to get my answer! :D
I got my whoopie slings today and will probably do my toggles out of carbon or alum...
I also bought one of these as my first hammock. So far it has been great in the backyard, but I'm still using it all stock. I do have my own paracord extensions and 'biners, so I'll likely be doing...
It amazes me (in a great way) to see how serious everyone takes hammocks. :D
After i took the pic, I realized that I was flexing my legs a bit. Once I put the phone down, I settled in and got...
Thanks y'all!
I couldn't resist a quick try-out. :) so what if it's in my carport. I have sun and birds and coffee.

I messed up and didn't have my Subscriptions set right (thanks for the crappy default VBulliten)...
My finishing time was actually 1:21:07. They did a time trial start....
First the details...
