Up for sale is one Hennessey Expedition Asym Zip with all the kit listed below. Please note, there is NO SUSPENSION included; however it is ready with links attached ready to accept virtually any...
Welcome from just down I-81.
- I would again with a Blackbird, likely a dbl. 1.1 (I have the dbl 1.7 now)
- A tarp from Wilderness Logics (currently I have a tadpole which is great but the "New Tarp" is intriguing)
- quilts I...
Welcome, may the DIY bug go no further than splicing for you.
Not reading "The Ultimate Hang" and watching Shug's video series for Noobs...BEFORE attempting to camp in a hammock (without insulation, tarp, bug net, etc...not that I know anyone like that.:D)
Razor blade / utility knife I have never used zing it for anything where the raw end is left exposed as I either make a locked eye on the ends or back splice.
I am cheap, so I started using the "figure 8 wind" to wrap up my guy lines (really any cord). I forget where I saw this first, but you take two fingers then simply wind your cord around them using...
Welcome, another motorcycling hammocker...AWESOME!
I have swapped it out in mine, mainly as I am vertically challenged and got to thinking that maybe the "standard" just wasn't my thing. Now what I haven't done is to measure where I have it dialed...
I hang with a Wilderness Logics Tadpole over my WBBB, just the right size for the majority of the year I have had no issues with rain but I hang my tarp right on top of my Hammock RL (almost Hennessy...
I have been in both and just prefer the WBBB, nothing wrong with the Hennessy other than it was a little heaver (likely way more durable fabric wise) than the WBBB I have. So one of my friends now...
Buddy of mine just got a Clark (it was older, not sure of the model), the pockets were pretty sweet. I put his riding (motorcycle) gear in the pockets and some empty plastic bottles...and he said he...
Just curious, have you checked out Shug's videos for newbies? Great info for starting out. You could a structural ridgeline on your setup easy peasy. I did an adjustable one from zing it for my...
Thanks ****...off to Walmart for some tennis balls!
So I am in the process of filling my TQ with down (first time working with down), using the "hand stuff" method. The down is compacted...is there a best way to distribute after sewing up the side? ...
I thought that calandered = downproof? "Thought" being the key word.
If you make it up into SW VA and need anything reach out to me, I am about 10 minutes off the BRP around Roanoke, VA. Hope the mechanical issue gets sorted out, great time of year and great area of...
Nice, thanks for the tip!
I first started with that approach but to me the clips / biners just make for a faster setup...rather did make, I have changed up to the adjustable webbing suspension (Warbonnet) with my move to a...
I have been putting of as honestly baffles have had be scarred and confused for a while. I got in my down, rip stop, noseeum and omni-tape last week (thanks to our fabulous cottage vendors).
So...
Good point, on mine it was getting caught up in the dogs (is that the correct term?) when I tried the climashield on the lower layer. I cheated a bit, I had my 8 year old hold a metal straight edge...
Awesome, great way to promote the addiction! Never fails when my buddies and I go moto-camping we draw at least a few folks interested in our setups and the fact we aren't sleeping on the ground.
And meant ripstop...although I referenced it as sil at least once in my post.
Best thing to do is sew it all inside out...so entering the thread injector: Climashield on top, two layers of ripstop (I used 1.1) underneath; the ripstop should have the good sides facing each...
I had a HH (now have a WBBB), when I got the Hennessy the first thing I did was ditch the "stock" suspension. However, I was jaded and had whoopies on a previous GT Hammock; on my WBBB I have the...
Bank line would likely serve well for tie outs, not sure I would trust it for a ridgeline...at least in a situation where you knew you absolutely had to have one.
Zing-it is good stuff, locally...
be helpful if I put all links in one reply...sorry.

Just saw this, right at $75...not sure about shipping. This one was on my list of tarps to get until I read reviews about the Tadpole.

If you can scrape together about 15 more $$ you could get a Tadpole from Wilderness Logics...great tarp. I haven't used one myself but heat the Kelty Noah line isn't too bad...although the...
Just completed an Apex UQ, material is on order to make a down TQ as well as a top cover for my wbbb.
The tadpole is an awesome tarp, great choice!
If you haven't already, I would recommend trolling YouTube for Hennessy related vids. It could be your setup needs some tweaking and you likely need to tinker with your suspension to get your speed...
Welcome from one state to the North. I fell into this addiction much the same way, I shopping for a new tent...did a search on "lightweight camping" and the rest is history.
Welcome to the forums, plenty of info here to cause overload for sure. Everyone is great about answering questions and pointing you in the direction of additional information. I doubt you will wait...
I have been playing with this same idea. Converting to whoopie's is simple enough, as for replacing the RL the route I was going to go was to use Amsteel Chain Links (one on each end), and...
Welcome Silver, I spent some time in Littleton...fantastic area. I wish I started hammocking with the rig you ordered, I have been going the second hand / DIY route to save some pennies.
Thanks for sharing, looks like this may be an activity for the Memorial Day festivities.
Well, I work roughly 60 hours a week and have two boys (4 and 8)...with these factored in it took me about a week. But if I could have had dedicated time, I probably could have done it in...
Oh...estimated temp rating (based on CLO, blah-dee-blah) I am hoping to be able to get down to the mid-30s, with a base layer on. I'll have to test to these temps next winter as our nights now are...
I got the Apex from Thru-Hiker (I think) and the rip stop from DIY Gear supply. I ended up ordering extra material...but if I had to guess for just the UQ...(Apex, ripstop, grosgrain, shock cord,...
I have had the materials for a while, this week I finally pieced together enough time to get this started and finished. My first attempt at a UQ, considering this as a primer to making a TQ but...
Welcome to the forum, in case you don't know this hobby is addictive...well collecting gear anyway.
I stumbled across the Snugpak - Jungle Blanket and my interest was piqued based on the packed dimensions (advertised by snugpak). As the winter months (read as DIY season) are gone, I was thinking...
I unzip pretty much all the way, sit on the side then pull the foot end zipper down, pull feet inside then close the zipper fully. The suggestion of putting some cordage on the pulls is a great...
If only this was an East Coast adventure (Southeast) I would be all in. If you ever want to venture into something with more elevation change (VA, NC, WVa, North GA) look me up.
Ditto... Pick up a cheap poly tarp from Walmart to start, then save your change to upgrade...don't go the route of going for a cheap "good" tarp as they don't really exist. You can get a good...
Good looking tarp, looks like you could throw a party under there.
