Welcome from Lawrence, Rock Chalk!
You can tie some paracord or something on the suspension to keep the rain water from running down into the hammock. It'll drip down the paracord instead.
I think down compresses small and is light. More expensive too I think. I still use my Military extreme weather mummy bag lol thing prolly weighs 10 pounds! But **** is it warm.

I've been on here singing praise for the Safari Deluxe Zip that I recently got, man what an awesome hammock...but my brother has the Explorer Deluxe and he's 6'4" and he loves it. I feel your pain...
I just wanted to give my thoughts on this hammock for anyone out there considering purchasing one of these. I used an Expedition Classic for several years which I loved, but it lacked in a couple...
Get a Safari zip...you can sit up in it with no ridge line hitting your head, unzip it for lounging and sitting, has hex tarp etc. Had an Expedition Classic for years and it's just not versatile...

Welcome to the forum, lots of good information and nice people on here
What's nice about the Hennessy velcro entry is you can tie your shoes to the ridge line and slide them to the end outside. They stay under the rainfly but outside the hammock.

Welcome friend
I usually go where people would never venture or have never been before. I'm one of those "stealth" campers who likes to stay out of sight. Here in NE Kansas the biggest thing I worry about is...

Yeah unfortunately I spent most of the trip sitting under the Hennessy out of the rain and coming out to put more wet wood on the fire to keep it going. Here's another shot and if you look closely I...

My fishing boat is named the River Gypsy...and I always hang out on the Wakarusa River....and I am part Roma (gypsy) ethnicity....so WakarusaRiverGypsy
Started with an old net style back packing hammock around 16 years ago. I would hang it on the porch and sleep in it inside my sleeping bag. Then I got into wilderness camping about 4 years ago and...
I don't have any experience with anything but Hennessy's and net hammocks, but my little brother is 6'4" and probably 240 or so and he has a HH Explorer Deluxe that he loves. Oh and welcome to the...
