How many "sleeps" would you say a down item should reasonably handle before a wash is needed? People say "Years" but I used to only use my sleeping bag a couple times a year, so that might be only...
Well, my amazing wife got me a killer gift for Father's Day, a RAB Quantum Endurance 400, 25 degree mummy bag, stuffed with 850+ European Goosedown. It's under 2lbs, and it packs down to almost...
Anyone think I could use a carbon fiber arrow shaft? Or would it probably crush? I have an aluminum arrow shaft too, I'm thinking I could cut either or both into proper pieces...
I happen to be a knot-hobbyist, so I have this item on hand already, and I know some fly-fisherman use them too. A hemostat is an awesome tool for whoopie-sling making, and repairing.
Ditto here. I even have a couple leftover pressure treated timbers from an old flower-bed I removed. This will work like a charm.
I'll try it out tonight and let you fellas know how it works. I've got quite a lot of strap to work with, and I don't think the pipes are perfectly smooth either, so I may be in luck as far as...
The goals at my park are 18'-6" x 6'-6". Still too long?
I'd be interested in this too, as I only have one large tree in the front yard, and one big tree in the back yard, and nothing else to hang from.
I, unfortunately, don't have two trees in my yard that are close enough together to hang from. Who thinks a regulation soccer goal would hold up a hammock for some urban-hammock testing?
Seems...
I HAVE to ask this, because I see people getting rid of their beds. How does that work if you have a spouse?
Yep. I got an order from Redden on Wednesday and it had this too. I just pulled it out before making my whoopies.
Just got my order from Redden yesterday!
Already made 3 whoopies so far.

Just wait. Eventually you'll start with monkey's fists, and turk's head knots. After that, kiss your paracord stash goodbye.
Ontario Knife Company makes EXCELLENT knives for batoning. I personally have the Afghan. These knives are made for extremely hard use, however they are not light by any means.

It's gotta be good,...
I got a 1969 Sears Kenmore 1503 at a garage sale yesterday for free. Japanese made, and it's about 40lbs too. Heavy cast-iron base. Needs to be looked at though, as the motor sparked a little when it...
I think I am going to shorten the hammock up by 18" or so, and make my tarp probably a 12x10 hexagon. That should give me almost 10" of coverage on the ends.
Is that sufficient?
I've decided to call it "The Mantis" due to the striking green color.
Also, much thanks to Shug and CreativeKayt's YouTube videos that led me here, and headchange4u's DIY A-sym thread, all of you...
Well, after lurking here on this forum, and doing research for about 2-3 weeks, I finally built my first gathered-end hammock, and rigged it up last night. I'm blown away with how easy this was, and...
I play ice hockey.
There are two types of penalties in hockey, minor and major. A minor penalty can be two, or four minutes. A major penalty is always five minutes, and does not end if a goal is...
