They got in with me for the Saturday afternoon test hang and there was still room for more...
Thanks to finding tableclothsfactory, a new hammock has been added.
It's a monster 156x90 and is very comfy indeed.
I expect to use this as Camp Director this summer.
Mighty fine!
Somewhat patiently awaiting my order...
It should arrive Saturday, just in time to wash, dry and test out. I chose the 90x156 monster in apple green.
They are daypacks, Kelty Courser 40 and Redwing 44 are the models. The Courser is olive green, Redwing blue. Let me know if you are interested.
I've got a Kelty in that range and can post pics tonight.
Welcome from Va. You will find an amazing group of friendly and knowledgeable people here!
Well done!
GLAD to see this finally. I had been to the ranger office several times last year and never got an answer.
We live in Fredericksburg and this would be a great option!
I appreciate the responses from the few and their willingness to help out. However...
Injun and I have been exchanging messages. The response ended up being very underwhelming. To date I have...
Hmmmm - I hope we see a response.
+1 The information shared in this one thread have already solved some questions that I had from last weekend and now will help as my girls have their first 'Daddy/Daughter Hang' this weekend.
[QUOTE=Catavarie;710453]Started with a 60 inch wide noseeum picked up from local army surplus store. It is single piece construction. Stitched long side of the noseeum to the side of the hammock and...
West Marine does carry it, in colors and different sizes.
...
Nice bugnet. A couple of questions:
How wide was the netting that you used?
Is it a two piece or one piece construction?
Thanks,
Chef
:(
I have to back out of Spring MAHHA hang. I have had some personal things come up, everything is ok, but I will not be able to hang with everyone that weekend.
Hopefully the Fall hang will...
I am taking both of our girls Friday night. They are very excited to sleep in there own hammocks next to Dad.:D:shades:

To this point, I have not received any hammocks and only 1 confirmation of someone planning to send via request for mailing address.
If there is anyone planning on participating, please...
I needed that this morning!

Welcome from Fredericksburg!
14.3 oz. including stuff sack.
Hello from Fredericksburg, VA!
I will weigh mine at home this evening.
http://www.woot.com
Woot has the Dreamie sleep sack on sale today, 2 for $4.99 plus shipping. I have two that we use for either insulation or a light top blanket in the summer.
There once was a man from this nation,
Who wanted a restful vacation,
In woods he found glee
Hanging from a tree
So his tent became a donation.

Did you put a tarp under your tent? If not, that is how the water seeped into the tent.
Nothing yet....
Greetings from FredericksBurg.
Pips,
I did miss this! It is exactly what I am looking for. THANKS!
I don't have an integrated bug net, it hangs outside, separately.
I'm sitting at work thinking about a trip I have coming up in 2 weeks and thinking how I can best attach my PLUQ to my hammock and came up with this idea.
Make a Triangle Thingie and on the two...
There are now more documented reasons to take naps and what better way than to do it in a hammock.

You have been to Joann's too much when the ladies at the cutting counter greet you like Norm in Cheers and say, 'Hey its the Hammock Guy! !
Great capture of the beauty of the great outdoors.
Looking forward to more.

Pips, Thanks for the reply and the props on the video.
It's helpful. I am searching the forum for an easily portable stand that I can take to a farm where I do not expect a lot of trees and...
I have read through all 51 pages :scared: and I have a question regarding the ridge pole. Is it necessary if you reduce the length of the rear pole on the tripod, changing the angle of the front...
Thanks for the input and the recommendations. Part of the challenge was to figure out how loud to talk by myself.
Great video, Fronkey!
The SHT looks like a great place to go. I'm going to add that to my bucket list of trails.
Here is the video from my solo last week. It was a great time. Thanks to all of the comments and suggestions from the HF members.

Enjoy.
Thanks for the ride along and for also posting the instructions on the foot rest.
Welcome from Fredericksburg!
I sent the email Monday, after assurance from the Asst. Chief Ranger that he would respond quickly.
I have called twice and no response, yet. Patience.....
Tomorrow I am headed out for my first solo hang. I have a few things on my mind that the solitude will help me sort out. :D
Off to the Nicholson Hollow/Hughes River area of the SNP. It's going...
Noted and I agree.
I was looking for a way to share what is done through this great forum that the Ranger would understand. :)
Only if they are carrying rulers. Think militant nuns :scared:
I asked for permission, got a big thank you from some of the Rangers and showed them the tree straps and hammock setup.
The next step is to get a special use permit from the Chief of Law...

My contact is looking for a better number as to how many hammocks will be available for the troops.
I've counted about 5 from this thread and contacts. Any others?
4:1 Mineral Spirits to 100% Silicon
No worries. I tried it. It didn't work. Now I can support one of the cottage guys by buying sil from them.
My apologies for the bad acronym. Wal-M**t.
I used the nylon from their discount rack as an attempt to do my own sil. The camo pattern did not accept any of the sil mixture.
