Thanks guys for the quick help on this. Sounds like a wider Lite Owl would be even more of a really good thing, as I suspected.

Thanks guys for the quick help on this. Sounds like a wider Lite Owl would be even more of a really good thing, as I suspected.
I have a Lite Owl, which is my favorite hammock, but am curious about the wider version. Any Lite Owl (or for that matter Night Owl or Snipe) owners who have the new wider version and will share...
I have both and prefer my 3/4, 20-degree quilt to a full-length quilt. I find adjusting the 3/4 quilt to be easier and think it tends to hold its position better. I used it recently when it got down...
Any chance this will be offered on your 30-degree Flight Jackets? If not, any insight about how a 20-degree Flight Jacket with this option would compare to the warmth of a 30-degree Flight Jacket...
I too have been pleased with the products but dissatisfied with poor communication in multiple instances. Won't buy from HG again despite the excellent quality and workmanship. I like to feel like my...
Assuming I am doing this correctly, here is a link to a color map of the AT in Georgia, which, as Deadwood said, is over 80 miles, including the approach trail: ...
I've had that discussion with Marty recently and the shock cords at each end are designed to deal with drafts. I've not had any issue with my WL UQ, which is very well made. I'm about to order a new...
A belated thanks to everyone for the replies. Marty sent me a sample of the Snipe fabric and I've decided to give it a try. It'll be my first single layer hammock, as I've always been a big believer...
This is Bear (assuming I was able to attach the pic using my phone). He's only 4 months. So far he seems to like our short hikes and hanging in the backyard. We have big plans down the road.
Thank you all for the quick and helpful responses. I'll see if I can get any clarification from the maker but in any event will look forward to putting the quilt to good use very soon.
I have a question - probably stupid - about an UQ I recently purchased. It's a partial length quilt for which I ordered a couple of additional ounces of down. Because I ordered two additional ounces...
I'll add a vote for my favorite hammock, which is a Lite Owl by Wilderness Logics. The head and foot pouches and the 11-foot length allow a flat, comfortable lay. You also can flip the hammock and...
Thanks Caveman. I imagine I'd like the Snipe because I like the lay of the Lite Owl. I've just never felt the 1.5 oz material and all of my hammocks have two layers. Appreciate the feedback.
I have a Lite Owl, which I use for winter camping and which I purchased after watching Shug's early video about the Snipe. Now that I have transitioned largely to using an UQ and foot pad, I no...
Welcome from Atlanta. You're in good company on this forum.
I have not tried the WBBB XLC, but I definitely prefer my 11-foot Lite Owl to my 10-foot WBBB. With particular reference to the Lite Owl, having the head and foot boxes and the ability to lie in...
Welcome from Atlanta. Looking forward to fall weather and hanging in the North Georgia mountains.
I too added WL's adjustable ridge line to my Lite Owl. Works great for hanging ridge line organizer and the like. Not sure how much it affects the hang as I've always used it.
I have both and prefer the Lite Owl. I added a RL too. The extra length and the head and foot boxes (which can go in either direction by flipping the hammock) make for a sweet lay. Just my two cents....
Sewn works great for me. Never have any trouble moving feet or adjusting position. Good luck.
As Paulie suggested, in addition to increasing the loops on the prussic knots, I would try removing the cord from the split rings (i.e., not running the cord through the split rings). Good luck!
Before you give up on the idea of a CRL, which I personally put above my Superfly, you might want to consider the convenience of being able to slide the tarp in either direction to cover your hammock...
I have a 20 degree Burrow with a sewn footbox and it works very well. I was concerned about losing heat with the snaps and about their longevity but I have no direct experience with them. Good luck!
I'm with Brute. Stay focused, do your best and reap the rewards. Enjoy your work this summer. Sounds like a great opportunity.
Very cool. Sounds like you have a great variety of terrain and wildlife. As for the hogs, I've seen pictures online of enormous hogs supposedly hunted in Turkey, but because the hogs were so big, I...
Welcome from Atlanta, Georgia. What's the terrain like where you are? Are you close to the Taurus Mountains? What kind of wildlife do you encounter? Sorry for the questions, just curious what it's...
National forest and wilderness areas, but sometimes start in an adjacent or nearby state park so that I have a safe place to park my truck.
Thanks guys for the feedback. Just ordered a 1/4" pad from Lawson Outdoor Equipment that's 24" x 74" for summer use. It'll be much lighter than my underquilt, and I don't mind using a pad. Hopefully...
Good question. I'm curious if you missed having a knife. The videos of your trip are outstanding. It looks like a great adventure but very difficult slogging through all that snow, not to mention the...
I'll be more specific in case that helps generate feedback. I typically use a 20" x 60" pad. Even though it exposes the shoulders a bit, that's the width I've used due to bulk and weight of a thick...
I'm curious what you've found works best for you in terms of pad length and width in a DL hammock. Unlike many, I like using a pad, especially for winter camping. I'm about to order a thinner CCF pad...
Bill, I'm sorry you had that experience. I have a BB and have been considering picking up an XLC. Please keep us posted about the resolution of your issue, including whether you give the XLC another...
I'm in; thanks so much!
Welcome from Atlanta! It's amazing how much better you feel after a night in a hammock rather than laying on the ground.
I too started with with an ENO DN and now prefer a Lite Owl as my primary hammock. As Raoul Duke said, the extra foot allows for a flatter lay and the foot and head boxes (which can be deployed for...
Welcome aboard. Like you, I started out with an ENO hammock. Although I now alternate between a WBBB and a Wilderness Logics Lite Owl, the ENO still may be the most comfortable choice. I use the BB...
Reading this was a great way to start my day. Thanks so much, and, by the way, the trip will be a special memory for her too. Well done!
Please produce many, as the extra foot and ability to remove the netting will make a big difference, even to those of us who have no business buying yet another hammock. By the way, will this new...
I have and like both, but I prefer the extra length of the Lite Owl and the ability to have a foot box on whatever side I want to place my feet.
Please count me in, and thanks so much!
I'm with dragon360. Although I often opt for an UQ, I like being able to use a pad, which is lighter to carry. I also like the feel of the double layer, which many say protects against bug bites in...
I love my Lite Owl too. Pad works great, although I often opt for an UQ. Even so, I like the feel of the double layer, which many say protects against bug bites in warmer months. I'm sure you'll be...
I have a BB and Lite Owl and you can't go wrong with either one. When the weather's cold and bugs aren't an issue, I tend to favor my Lite Owl. The 11-foot length lets you get really flat and the...
Interesting but doesn't seem all that light given the name. Just sayin.
This unfortunately has been an informative thread for me. While I'm not excited about the possibility of discovering a mouse in my hammock, I'm much more disappointed to learn that ticks continue to...
I've purchased numerous pairs of aluminum Dutch clips, so that I have a set for each hammock, and some of which I've given to others to help them get setup, and they have worked flawlessly. I think...
Welcome from Atlanta, Georgia!
Also use a Hammock Gear Burrow, which has worked well, but I'd consider a top quilt by Wilderness Logics too. I have their full-length under quilt and it's been great. I have to admit I'm partial to...
I have double layer hammocks so I can use a pad, and I often do, but a nice underquilt is very comfortable and allows the hammock to lay normally. There are good threads about the pros and cons of...
Welcome from Atlanta, and, as many already have said, thank you for your service.
