I would think not, just update the list for 2QZQ. See you there!
I noticed Stormcrow was not on the list of hangers this weekend. Checking the list of MAHHA on the site I noticed a link to his through hike on the AT... how awesome!
I found his blog, read his...
I hope its not too late! I just learned about the hang this week. My wife and I will be there Saturday to Sunday. I was there last year, it was a nice time.
Excellent, glad to hear that. Some other things that affect lay and sweet spot is material weight, for example. 1.1 vs 1.4 vs. 1.5 vs. 1.9 vs 1.1DL, etc...
I am interested in some if you are willing to cut it into different lengths. Thanks! What is your asking price per foot? Shipping too?
Made my sack. Almost perfect at 4"x4"x8".
Raw dimensions were: 12" x 16 3/8"
Thanks for your input guys!
True...
Cool-factor, well I'm in!
Why should I choose to splice my line over tie a knot?
Why does everyone like to splice line?
From what I know...
Splices
1. Uses a lot more line than a knot
2. Keeps almost 100% line...
Thank you for all of your input everyone.
, well that's why you need to brings some straps, know some knots and strap that thing to your back! G'sss, whats wrong with you. That's common sense.
The Warbonnet Blackbird is a nice setup as far as length and width is.
My DIY Hammock is 120" x 54" or it might be 120" x 58" raw material. This is pretty comfortable for me and my wife who are...
Excellent! Thank you for your tips!
Which do you prefer and why?
Z-Line Spectra 1.5mm from zpacks.com
or
zing-it 1.75mm from dutch?
I currently own the spectra line and use it on my tarp. I like it and its easy to see and...
That is how the setup calls. I tried both.
With what you said, then you could use your tree hugger with MSH and continuous loop if trees are super close. If they are not, then you could use the...
BINGO! My exact thoughts. I only got to your post now, before I posted 3 other times on this thread.
True, so very true, but what about if you have to hang 10-12' apart. Then what?
It would be more than a few seconds. Sometime after a long day on the trail you want to setup asap for various reasons. The last thing you want to do is think, "how can I do this fast enough before...
Makes sense, but...
My thoughts on having a continuous loop on the hammock gathered ends is... if you are setting up between two trees 10-12 feet apart you are able to do so without the whoopies....
On my tarp I switched from 550 paracord to tech line from diygearsupply. I use a dutch hook (very small, lightweight and cool) on one end and a tarp flyz (from dutch) on the other end. This works...
I was really hoping I would get more feedback :)
Thanks to those that did and do! I appreciate it!

Cool, thanks for the info.
I think I figured out the dimensions. I made a sample bag the other night out of an old pair of dress pants.
Well... my wife and I backpack a lot and we collect rocks. So I fill up a few stuff sacks tied to my hip belt along the way with rocks. Its so much fun! I really enjoy the extra weight too!!!
...
Ahhh, yes, I picture it now. In your design there would be no middle stitch running down the centerpoint of the square bottom. There would only be two stitches running down two of the (4) 4" sides...
nacra533,
Thank you. I have discovered this method and I do like it, but if I am not mistaken, doesn't your method involve more stitching (seams) than other methods? Two vertical seams and 3...
Thanks!
No, I don't think so, because when you fold the bag over you would be incorporating that added 1/4" to the overall width of the bag. I mean you could do that, but I would probably cut it...
Ahh, yes, that would make sense, but I want the bag to be more like 6" closed. Thanks for the input though!
Makes perfect sense, thanks!
I made my DIY hammock last week. Very comfy at...
120" x 54" - 1.5oz ripstop nylon from DIYgearsupply. I also used tech line as my ridgeline from the same site.
(8oz. total weight)
Please explain why you use straps in the winter? Thanks!
Everyone - Thank you for all of your input so far!
- I have created some smaller stuff sacks out of old clothing working on getting the right configurations. (These sacks will come in handy...
Shug,
I feel honored that you replied to my post! I really enjoy your videos, they are entertaining and educational. I have lots to watch yet, can't wait!
Thanks, this is the exact website I...
Very true, would be the lightest too, but I have 1.1 and 1.5 oz ripstop here at the house. Thanks for the feedback.
I mean no disrespect to the author or anyone else. I think its great that someone was kind enough to post and explain like most others don't in this method, but...
In that method you have to sew...
I have searched and search. How do I make a square bottom stuff sack to my dimensions!
I like this video, but the formula and excel document don't match up and the explanation is not thorougho...
Thanks Skewie & ftroop94, I am leaning towards the Dutch Buckle system which I also own. I have another post called Dutch Buckles vs Dutch Hooks. Check it out if you have time. Thanks!
You are exactly right! No offense taken either.
I really do like the OEM suspension, but I saved 12 oz. (no joke!) switching my suspension on my hammock and switching my lines on my tarp.
Yep... I know exactly what you mean. I tried that at first, but...
1. trees were too close together.
2. straps were too long.
3. whoopies were to long even when I shortened them all the way.

You need 40" of amsteel to make a 12" continuous loop?!? Wow, that's a lot of rope!
Why not use a triple fisherman's knot? It will save you on half the rope and half the weight?
I am fortunate enough to own three different suspensions system for my "Blackbird DL," my wife's "Blackbird SL" and my "DIY gathered end hammock."
My questions for everyone is… Which do you...
First off I love Dutch’s gear and his customer service is top notch! He is a great guy to work with and is a very innovative dude!
Questions… please help! I currently own this suspension, but...
Paracord SOLD.
Thanks boots13!
Thanks PapaSmurf!
Thanks for the info! Good to know about cord strength. One last question, how do you know how much to bury? Please lead me in the right direction. I think I may start to tinker with amsteel.
Depending on the distance between your two trees you could always extend your whoopie on your hammock and use that? Probably would not be fun to do trying to guess the length as it would make it...
PapaSmurf,
Everyone loves to bury their rope now a days. Does bury the rope use less rope than say using a bowline, triple fisherman's, etc... It is definitely cleaner looking to bury the rope,...
ciarlill & rottenpossum,
I just made a 1.5oz. gathered end hammock 120" x 56" with an adjustable ridgeline using materials from DIY Gear Supply. The hammock & ridgeline weights 8oz. (no whoopies...
I also have small biners, medium biners and large biners that I could throw in for a small fee. Just depends on which size and color you are interested in. The biners I have are not climbing biners....
* I hate to see something collect dust in the corner*
I am also selling 550 Paracord. I used to use this cord as a ridgeline for my tarp so they never were under great stress. The 25' line now...
The snakeskins are sold. Thank you!
