Being from Nevada - I choose a spot that has 2 trees close enough together for hammock camping. Harder than you might think.

Nice looking country! That's more trees than in all of Nevada!
When I was just 21 and freshly out of the service, I solo hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Donner Summit to Bishop California. I went slow and it took 23 days. I wanted to look and see the sights...
Make sure she has her own flashlight, a bottle of water and a nice clean mat to put her feet on when exiting the hammock.
Don't tell her about the most recent Bigfoot sightings. No NO NO!
Yeah. We have our jewels. This area is surrounded by 100,000 acres of sagebrush.
I took an opportunity to get out yesterday for a solo campout. I went to the mouth of an unnamed canyon near home. There's a grove of Aspen that extends about 1 mile up a canyon between 2 hills that...
The first time I ever hung a hammock was about 30 years ago. I had one of those nylon string fishnet "backpacking" hammocks that you could get for $9.99.
I strung it up under a railroad trestle...
You won't be sorry.
I had the same question myself and I eMailed Brandon the Blackbird guy.
He told me that the WBBB 1.7 DL is rated at 400 lbs but he has put up to 1000 lbs in one with no problems. That was good...
Do you store that in a homemade wormskin?
Post #5 is all that I've got. It should be pretty much self explanitory. I know I'm not an engineer and the design may need a few tweaks here and there but it is basically sound.
Out of 239 views,...
Brandon, I've only had my WBBB 1.7 Dbl for a few weeks and have only used it on two occasions.
No bite-throughs for me.
Lets see if these will attach

Hope you can make heads and tails of these!
The stands are placed against the walls on opposite sides of the room and are built to be sized from...
No. I'm not a very computer savvy dude. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
I've seen several threads on this forum about hanging a Hammock in doors, in a house, a dorm room, a bedroom etc.
Always the solutions involved attaching the suspension lines to a fixed anchor...
"When They Hang Lower - Hang Lower." ... Wise Man
I would really like to have one. I'm retired with no kids, but I have a nephew who is being raised by his mother. He want's to get a hammock but his mom can't afford one right now and I can't afford...
It looks like you have a shock-corded spreader pole on the inside center of your tarp. That's a brilliant idea! Is that a copy of another commercial tarp or your own idea?
Very nice work!
You're the eldest! Take the one you want. The other two are better equipped to handle the negligible extra weight.
Inform them of the pros and cons of the hammocks they will be using and help them...
I am feeling so much better knowing that I am not the only one perplexed with this activity. I have managed, obviously to exit but it was never graceful and without a moderate amount of grunting,...
Several years ago I was camping out in a ....tent. An old pup tent with aluminum poles at either end.
During the night it began to rain, then rain and thunder & lightening. Lightening was striking...
Years ago I had a Dr. tell me that before going into an area that was notorious for bad water (his words) like Mexico, etc. that I should take twice daily doses of Pepto Bismol for at least 2 weeks...
When I first started looking for a hammock, I looked through all the mfgrs models and load bearing stats and first listed those that would hold my weight with a good margin for error.
Then I...
I received my WBBB a couple weeks ago and my BBO last week. Today I had the opportunity to take them both out for a test hang... just to get the feel of the Blackbird and to see if I'll really like...
Weather and work have interrupted my plans... Hopefully this tue or wed will see me in the new WBBB, NOW - With a BBO!
It's GREAT that I've found a new outlet for my money...
You can't go for a drive - anywhere - without saying, "Yeah, I could hang there; no not there; yeah, yeah, no. Yeah over there, maybe."
Friends call the police when you tell them that there's...
Mine's pretty lame - no imagination at all.

Just reading through this thread and had to add my 2 cent's worth.
Back in 1972 I solo-hiked the PCT from Donner Summit to Bishop, CA. I camped in a tent the whole time but there were almost...
The mailman brought my new WBBB today. That's the good news. :)
The bad news is that I won't be able to play with it until this weekend. :(
But it's HERE!
I'm 62 and I'm acting...
I've suffered from chronic leg cramps since I was 12 years old. Docs used to prescribe quinine but the FDA, in their infinite wisdom no longer approves of quinine for anything other than malaria......
If a dye like Ritt or some other would work, It would be cool to do a camo Tie-Dye pattern like the old 60's T-shirts...
For that matter do an Eyeball Aching All-Out Hippy Tie-Dye job on it. You'd...
Thanks to Turnerminator for the reply. You answered a couple of questions right off the bat.
I knew someone here would have the answer! Thanks again!
As I've been reading and doing research on suspension systems, I've seen references to both Amsteel and Dyneema cordage.
Are these products just brand names of the basic same product kind of like...
I'm sure that I'm just another in a long line of Noobs who owe a lot to the videos by Shug.
Thanks for the funny and informative vids you've made. I learned a lot in a short period of time. Now...
I'm an avid motorcycle rider and tourer. I'm also in my 60's so the idea of sleeping on the ground has lost a lot of it's charm for me over the past 30 or so years. I was on another forum where a...
Thanks everyone for your replies. You've given me a lot to think about.
I find as I travel that I've started looking for likely places to hang if I were on my bike and looking for a few hours of...
I've been hanging out on this forum (no pun intended - well, maybe) for a few weeks and finally registered. I first saw a reference to hammock camping on another forum and that started me doing some...
Hi, everyone. I'm Steve from Central Nevada. I am an avid camper and motorcycle rider. I'm also getting old so pitching a tent and sleeping on the ground doesn't hold the charm for me that it did 30...
