Warbonnetguy is absolutely correct.
The sender has SAVED YOU MONEY by undervaluing the hammock for Customs
purposes.
If they had put $150 value on it you would have been charged US Customs Import...
I have found that many of the cheaper asian hotels and hostels have hooks in the corners of the room to hang mosquito nets from.
Be careful with DEET.
It will eat holes in some synthetic fabrics.:scared:
I wouldn't get that stuff near a hammock.
I took my old down filled sleeping bag that by luck had a full length zipper, opened it out, put a smooth pebble almost in each corner and then folded the corner over the pebble. I tied cord a few...
You all have missed the big one
Thou shall have as much fun as possible
I also found this thread before starting this one.
Other people have had "strange" lumps too.
Some are obviously mozzie bites but others...
...
The skin reaction is not just a few lumps typical of mosquitos.
It is many, many lumps in areas that come in contact with the material.
Itchy too, even itch cream was no relief.:crying
The main...
I found this picture last night on another unrelated to hammocking site and was going to post it. I see that I was beaten to it. It's the "quick and the dead" around here.;)
I have used my HH Safari and really like it.
The first 2 times were in winter and spring with no problem.
Then summer came and I started sleeping in it in just my undershorts.
I would wake up a...
Someone posted the comment "You could use the paddle as your shovel."
I have seen my friends do this a few times. the first time I tried it for myself I broke my paddle right where the blade joins...
I thought I was nuts but the SAME thing happened to me.
I used my HH Safari twice during winter and had no problem.
Then on my last 2 kayaking trips this summer I woke up with lumps and itchy as...
Let us know how it stacks up against the BMW.
I'm the market for an off road tourer.
I was told that KTM stood for Kan't Tame the Mother!
I have an old K series beemer at the moment after...
I just checked my HH and it says "made in China" on the stuff sack but not on the Hammock.
I understand what people are saying about the quality of goods made in China but they are improving...
I thought it was pretty good too:D
Do you do Weddings and Bar mitzvahs?
BLISS!
Try living in a metropolis of 4.3 million!
Hooch is correct when he says that climber's ropes need to have stretch in them and are designed to do so.
The stretch is a shock absorber.
If you fell while climbing and your rope didn't stretch...
I am 6'1 weigh 210lbs with broad shoulders.
I found that my Safari is more comfortable than the Explorer Deluxe I had at first.
I sometimes found that my right shoulder was uncomfortable and just...
I use the Montbell #2 Long Ultralight Super Stretch Down Hugger.
(it's a mouth full ain't it!)
Great bag, really recommend it.
The packed size of this is unreal for a sub zero (Celsius)bag. It's...
We had 2 here last week on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
I slept through the second one but the first one was quite freaky.
It was 1am and I was writing an email to a customer in Canada.
I felt...
Just thought I might as well throw in my 2 cents worth as well.
I prefer using my Thermarest prolite4 large (great mat) in both my HH and toploader.
I find the mat flattens the hammock out and...
I am one of those cursed by the mozzie. They will fly past 100 people just to get at me.
On a TV program about the mosquito, it was reported that it comes down to lots of different factors as to...
Beemer for me too. I used to have a LT1200.
When the kids came along that put an end to my wife and I going motorcycle touring here in Japan so I sold it. I picked up an old K75s in mint condition...
You are supposed to have your head on the left side, your butt about on the centerline and your feet to the right of the opening.
Thanks YB,
This is something I had never thought about. I bet the "light went on" for a lot of us new guys out there.
It's little stuff like this that makes this forum so good and cuts our learning...
I was thinking along the same line about the hammock warmer but have to admit that I hadn't got around to the dual function bit.
I guess she could also paddle my kayak for me too.
This accessory...
As soon as any weight is put in the hammock the two tripods will pull together
and you will end up on the ground.
It might work if you solidly anchor the tripod to the ground to stop it pulling...
Thanks for clearing that point up Angrysparrow. I didn't know there were 2 systems.
And now for dumb question #2:o
In a HH, is the ridgeline structual? Is that ridgeline spectra?
I am guessing...
Reading this thread I see that there are 2 schools of thought on the ridgeline.
1 group views the ridgeline as a supporting member of the hammock system and therefore has a loading.
The other...
Do you find that pegging out the fly helps?....you have 2 more anchor points adding to stability.
How much wobble in the stand do you get if you move around in the hammock?
Does it rock much?

I tried looking here on the net in Japan for manufacturers for you all but zilch
I ordered a HH Deluxe Explorer, over cover and snake skins.
I also asked them to swap the smaller tarp for the larger one as mentioned on their site.
They had no over cover in stock but sent me the...
Thanks for the reply,
I have got a MontBell super stretch #2 bag and there is plenty of room in it for me and the pad. I am not a little guy at all. I didn't inflate the pad fully so it wrapped...
I am a newbe and I am sure this has been asked before, but why not just put the pad in the sleeping bag with you instead of using a quilt etc.
I tried this and it seemed to work fine.:)
