So glad to see an Arkansas hang on the board. I have missed the Yates Place hangs since leaving NC several years ago and moving back to my native Arkansas. Will do my best to make this.

I will check and see, but there is a chance I can get a group of my friends to serve as prospecting coaches for the group and may even be able to provide lots of gear. We are in the national forest...
The funny thing is my wife just came through the room and started dancing LOL
You made the right choice IMHO. Enjoy!
I love the Moore's Wall loop, but agree completely on the "steps". I got a complete set of suspension parts from Marty and keep them in my camping box. It is so easy to forget them at home and...
Adding this to my calendar.
Welcome from Kernersville! I sleep in a Nite Owl most nights and love it.
Welcome from North Carolina! I grew up in Junction City, north of Ruston.
Ordered my double layer multi-cam ridge runner on 10/24 and got my shipping notice via pay pal today on 10/31. I was expecting 3 to 4 weeks, so I am really stoked now:D
Welcome from Kernersville!
Welcome from Kernersville! What they said about the Yates Place hang this weekend, come on out!
After missing several RR hammocks on the for sale forum I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one. I am getting the double layer in multi-cam and can't wait:D.
Does anyone know if the...
I am so happy with my new king size TQ and full size UQ from Wilderness Logics. I took them down to 34 degrees last night and plan on doing it again tonight! I feel like 34 may be my limit for the...
Was anything ever decided about food?
I plan on being there around lunchtime Friday also.
I agree with Loki, there will be no shortage of forest that we can camp in. Years ago we would primitive camp along the uwharrie river near the main entrance on hwy 109.
I'm still hoping this...
You have several good detailed answers already. My first hammock was a HH Explorer Deluxe. I used my AHE Potomac with it and had great results, but it was a pain to get out of, especially for the...
Love my tadpole and my summer series quilts from WL! Hopefully picking up my new set of standard quilts tomorrow and can't wait. :D
Made a visit down there today. Also of now the campground is open. However, according to someone who was there camping, the primitive campsites may close soon if no budget agreement is reached. ...
Yates place is free and unstaffed, but I am hearing they have closed everything regardless. Not wanting to start a political discussion, but if the place we plan to hang is closed then we need to...
Does anyone know how the government shutdown is affecting the UNF campgrounds? I have been told everything is currently closed.
He can't get any of the brown right now so he had to order a new color. It seems the military has bought all of the brown. Look for it on the website as soon as he can get a good photo of it
I hope to make this hang again this year, but will not know until the week before. Wifey and I will not be back from a cruise until October 20th and I have no idea how much work will pile up over 10...
And ordered a new full length UQ and king sized TQ with a snap foot box. I also got to see his new color (greenish) hammock and it looks awesome.
Another great experience dealing with...
Welcome from Kernersville and be sure to check the outings section for the upcoming group hang at Yates Place in the Uwharries
I woke up in my hammock this morning on my back porch (8 nights in a row) and thought about how my SSTQ has become one of my most beloved pieces of gear. We cuddled for about an hour before I had to...
I had the Potomac from my previous hammock. I plan on getting a winter UQ from Marty before it gets cold again (along with an Old Man Winter tarp)
I have just enjoyed my sixth night in a row sleeping on my back porch in my night owl. This hammock rocks! I was concerned about using my AHE Potomac UQ since it is made to fit the Hennessy but so...
A thru hiker that I have been following on youtube got some video of the aftermath. Language not suitable for minors.

No problem, I should have included a huge smiley anyway. I had planned on retiring in Northern CA at one time, but those plans are not feasable now. Would sill love to visit from time to time, it...

The picture of the sea to summit compression bag is with the REI sleeping bag inside it. That is about as small as I could get it.

I will be there at least 1 day, probably Thursday, and possibly Friday. This will be my first time in 4 years.
I hope to be able to make this one. Last year was a blast.
I will be there on Thursday also, elbow deep in the bargain bin.
Had another visit with Marty today while picking up some amsteel, tarp skins, and some cord to rig my tarp with. Awesome service again!
The bar has definitely been raised now. Nice place to hang!
I have been a rec. gold prospector and dredger for over 25 years and have spent many summers and falls on the Klamath river. I am very well aware of what was being referenced.
Clayton is really nice and still has areas that are considered "in the country" I do not know the area very well, so my experience is limited to Clayton (used to have family who lived there).
