I always have the am steel loop the other way so that it crosses the lock on the beetle. Not sure if it’s right but that’s how I run it.

Well we had a beautiful weekend up there, the rain held off on Sunday until after we left. As for the trails all I can report back on is the middlefork trail as we just did an in and out(I was...
Welcome fellow hillbillies! Congratulations to you and the Misses, I know you will love your new beds and definitely you'll have no lack of places to hang in WWWV
You are welcome, I just hope the weather is nicer next weekend than this ones supposed to be. It’s a beautiful place and I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
If your hanging and it’s just you and another then no worries just pick a spot, but yes if your tenting and more than a couple of you then you’ll have to look for already prepared sites like your...
Yes, take N/S to Little fork(no water until you get down little fork a little ways), then it meets up with middle fork at 3 forks campground. Start up middle fork, Beachy branches off a couple miles...
N/S is water limited as your on the top of the ridgeline, same as beachy. I would recommend the middle fork on your way back. Maybe N/S to little fork then little fork to middle and back to 150....

I'm pretty sure they used a bowline, I had swapped mine out for continuous loops, I just ziptied the mitton hooks to one leg of the CL and it works fine.
Works great if you use it correctly. I don't use the space blanket down to 50 and no problems. below that I would. It does get some condensation on cool wet nights so watch out for that.
Only issue...
Because I thought I had one once.........I was wrong, There's never been a bad weissenbier :)
Actually years ago I picked it out when I was online gaming with some friends(nothing else I tried...
I just received mine, it's the 12' version, Fabulous construction and it is huge. Replaced my HH asym hex with it(which is already a big tarp).
it is larger, lighter and packs smaller.
Definite...
School me some more here, as I was just thinking GPS(obviously), Is there a subscription cost associated with this?
I have found that pack size is almost as important as weight.
By my estimation (which doesn't count for much) you have 2 items that might be worth upgrading and that would be the quilts, both pack...
Ordered 3 quilts and a tarp on Christmas Day, I was expecting (per their website) 5-6 weeks.
Received the shipping notice today! Thank you Hammock Gear!
Have a Boy Scout trip planned for...
I would say your best option for starting on the cheap would be the blue closedcell foam pads at walmart or others. You can cut them down for the kids to save weight and space and then not really be...
Thanks Jade! You are the first I have seen to say this, but it was something I had pondered on when dealing with down insulation and making orders. I always see the overfill option and I wonder why?
It is so much fun watching Dutch and waiting for his next creation!!
Gonna have to add that to my wish list!!
Thanks for all the creativity Dutch
Sounds good, any thoughts on itinerary? not like we don't have plenty of time to plan up.
I'd definitely have little Bad with me. I would bet if i mentioned it 2 to 3 other might come, I will wait for others to respond before I do.
I have a super crew so hauling troops and gear isn't a...
Correct me please,
I know everyone sleeps different and a 10 degree may work for some but not for others and that environmental conditions come in to play.
My understanding is that...
Sorry you had to change. But I might have to join now:-)
I have found the smartphone internal GPS to really work well. You might get an app that will let you download maps. I'm sure there is no phone service but the GPS works just fine without. I had the...
I would love to go that area is always beautiful, However that is boy scout camp week :( and I have to get them young ones out and loving nature. If you decide on another week I would jump right in
I don't usually go that far north during the winter, I would recommend calling the Monongahela national forest people they could tell you. I've called several time and they are always helpful....
I read enough from others that it was a no-brainer :D and the cost isn't that much more also with the RL organizer, like having stuff handy

Just received mine today. Super nice job!
Coyote brown with Camo top, 2 peaks and rl organizers.
Thanks Dutch and crew, you make a great product
I changed my ropes out for CLs and just saved the ropes that way I can change back if ever needed.
It's really a simple and cheap changeout
As others have said I would definitely get someone to adjust it while YOUR laying in it. It will conform differently to an 11 than a 10, which is probably where your problem lays.
I have the HH explorer ul zip and an HG incubator 20. I can happily say they work great together and you shouldn't have any problems.
Thank you all for your insite, I'm going to give it a try and see how I like it.
After reading multiple threads that all hit around the subject, it got me thinking.
Right now I pack my hammock, my TQ and my UQ all in their own stuff sacks then put them into my waterproof bag...
I swapped my HH to CLs. Only downside I know of with whoopies is your minimum length between trees will be longer
Looking and rereading your post, I would expect the beetle to slide down tying up like you have in the first picture. With the strap being pulled tight up and down the beetle can't pinch the strap as...
Actually more like your 2nd photo(where the strap parallels itself coming out) is what i meant, not going through in a slant so to speak.
Definitely beetles grab the CLs pretty good, so they could...
I have my HH changed over to CLs and use the Beetles and Dyneema webbing as well. I think the trick to the beetles is to make absolutely sure the webbing goes in and back out of the buckles in a...
I doubt that you will ever see a bent BB. Titanium is stronger than steel however it's limiting factor is that it is brittle. I would guess that they would break before bending. I think one should...
Or you could replace your ropes with whoopies. It's easy to do and easy to change back.
I have the HH version and hex tarp. I just let both sides hang together then kind of throw it over itsself almost like a large roll, maybe a couple of times then running the one hand in front(more...
Found this Thread to be quite interesting. After reading all the math and looking at all the calculations, I think I like Chems answer for the 83%. I think the end goal is the angle created between...
Thank you all!!! and nothing plain about Va. We share some beautiful mountains!!
Hello fellow hangers,
Little bit about myself-
I started camping(on the ground and in a tent) in the Boy Scouts at the young age of 12. Loved every minute of it and camped in and out of Scout...
