I definitely agree, the R&D for this isn't geared towards ultralight backpackers. Sil would probably be perfectly fine for any of the above mentioned uses, plus some...but it also has to be geared...
Duro sells that fabric. It's the PU stuff that ends up almost twice as heavy as sil.
Multicam is worlds apart from acupat. Cadpat or marpat would be a maybe, but I'd really like the multicam. It just plain works. Maybe I could make a minimal coverage PU multicam to keep the weight...
