If you do not keep the stock small tarp attached then the hammock sags oout from under it. Not good in the rain... Probably why some folks got wet. Definitely why a lot of folks go to a Hex tarp.

I did not have skins with my old hammock and stuffed the whole works into a Thermarestcstuff sack strapped to the pad straps on my pack. Wet never bothered me as the little water the hammock picked...
