I made a 1/4 size gear hammock to keep boots and clothes inside the bugnet with me. same layout under the main hammock.
make it into a gear hammock!
Plus the straps are at > 35* so I'm not worried at all.
I dont think I could sleep with an UQ on indoors. I'm usually far too hot anyway.
3 Inch lag bolts, the wall is a regular 16 on center 2x4 wall. Im in the stud next to a header above a window, and the same location above a door.
Not a bad view either...

I just put two anchors in my wall, am used caribiners to clip to the double rings in my suspension. looks like it was made to measure!

There are 8 to 12 hammocks in the picture below, they are the rental ones my college just started offering.

My step dad had his hip replaced at around the same age, his recovery was very fast, and hammocks and kayaks have been no problem for him since.
He is one of those people that cant sit still, he...
Its the new version of http://theultimatehang.com's app.
The suspension setup I am using will span ~28ft on smaller diameter trees. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=79933
Rumor has it that the ultimate hang's app will have a built in angle feature.
perhaps someone needs to make Faraday tarps... basically a full chain mail tarp that you can hang safely in the middle of.... although I'd rather just not camp than carry one.
I'm assuming it is made differently.
The conduit my father used to work with in England was very different that here. Much heavier gauge metal, they would cut threads into the ends of the pipe...
I can never remember what poison ivy looks like, we didn't have it in England people normally point it out to me when I'm standing in it. I don't know if I'm immune or it doesn't transfer well...
Welcome! from the Kennesaw area!
If that was from the climbing doc, it was on Nylon webbing that stretches. So the strength factors will be different.
+1 on that
my only comment is keep an eye out for silicone residue on the needle after sewing for a while. I found the thread would get tight if I didn't keep an eye on it. Either clean the needle or just...
I just did half size doors in an attempt to give some added rain protection. I have yet to test the feature though
I just assumed the area that overlaps was in the measurement already. Good to know there isn't any left over! I guess I could have read the desert domes website
I like having a ridge-line so my hammock always hangs the same, I made the rest of the suspension first, and used an adjustable ratchet strap in place of a ridge-line until I found the length I found...
Yup but backstitch was already taken
If shug approves it must be good! Looks like a nice setup!
Conduit is stocked in 10ft sections. If you purchase 35, that gives you 35 at 5ft and 35 at 4.4feet and a Bunch of little pieces to recycle.
Strap works will sew the loops into the ends for you if you wanted, other companies might do the same.
Hctits | stitcH. No particular reason.
Welcome! Lots of Georgia people here!
Welcome! Herts huh? I'm from Luton myself.
I used a machine and used the box with an X in it method. I had sent used a thread injector since middle school and didn't find it too hard.
Other stitch patterns can be found on page 12 of this...
I'd be surprised if you couldn't make 25yards work with a splice somewhere in it.
How many tree straps are you planning on making?
I have hung ~1400lbs on my sewn loops in 1inch poly webbing.
mine is 1/4 size version of my main hammock and I hang it directly below me. its only a few of inches off the ground but inside my bugnet.
Apparently the student center on my campus is about to start renting ENO hammocks.
is your Granddaughter at GA southern?
no problem at all knotty! The suspension weighs ~23.9 oz
over 3.7oz could be saved by switching out the two Ti rings for the SMC rings.
it is secured to the tree via two rings much like on this...
I've used the Ti rappel rings in recoverable anchors when rappelling. I have a bunch of them incase they get stuck and I have to leave them. Those smc descender ring scare me too much to use them for...
when you are at the top of a cliff with your lunch, and your buddy is at the bottom, and is hungry you might be able to rig something up to lower him a sandwich.
mine too! If we can both go, we could car pool if you like.
yep those were the ones I mentioned earlier. the two together in the picture are the SMC rings, I'm leaving the other two Ti ring in, as having them with me could provide useful someday. I personally...

Ti rap ring.
the strap leaving the top of the picture is the part that goes around the tree, the strap leaving the...
one of my professors likes to give people a research topic that he created a wiki page for. of course his wiki is completely false with false references. It amuses him when half the class fails the...
I wont know for sure if I can go until nearer the date, it will depend on school. but I know it would be better after the 19th for me.
yeah its not the exact same, but as far as understanding the effects they can have that was the easiest way I could think of.
On mine angle and tension make no difference to comfort. The only variables are the height at which each end is around the tree.
The Ti rings are cool, but too heavy for most of you. If you were to copy you could probably get away with just using the smc rap ring things that weigh nothing.
The Ti rings are solid and wont...
well if I run into an issue i'll either do multiple wraps or change the outer pieces to a larger width. and you never know I might be full of **** and its 1 inch  to be honest I cant...
if you take a piece of string and lay it straight and pull the ends, all the force is on the length of the string is inline with it.
if you take the same piece of string and lay it in an arc,...
it didn't rain at the weekend, I hoped it would so I could figure out all my leaks. I was thinking I could probably just have something hang from the rings the hammock attaches to if needed. I took...
I thought that would be an issue, the guy ropes currently are just shock cord. but I found over the weekend that the suspension is so strong I couldn't see it move if I got in and out. one of my...
this apparently is the only picture I have that shows the gear hammock under the main hammock. its just a simple channel with small utility cord on it. its loops through the main hammocks biner and...
I had a guy make me a bunch replicating one that used to be available. they are useful for all kinds of rigging.
it means the weakest part of my suspension is the stitches around the rings (its...
