Nice! I spent August on the 395 corridor, hope to get back there next summer.
I grew up in Baltimore, Alabama would be like another planet to me... I've heard its beautiful.
Hello, haven't been on in years and wanted to say hi. I was very active in the community about 10 years ago and attended quite a MAHAA hangs at Pine Grove State Park. I was one of the first...
That tarp looks interesting but if I'm going to spend a couple hundred bucks, I'd rather go with the proven quality of HG or Dutch. It's a very cool design though!
Any idea how that setup will fare if I go to ground? I live in Yosemite and sometimes camp where there are no trees.
Thanks again! One other question... if I opted for the tarp with linelocs and didn't like them, I'm guessing I could also just run cordage through the loops that hold the linelocs and use my old...
They make doors for the standard hex tarp!?! Hmmm
Thanks for all of the tips, looks like line locks may be the way to go! Now I just have to figure out which ridgeline to install!
I'm looking to purchase a dyneema hex tarp and HG and Dutchware are looking like the best possibilities. I'm curious about the HG hex with linelocs, as I feel this may be a good system. Has anyone...
Exactly! Size of the newer tarps is way bigger than what I'm used to, and I've pitched in some really bad situations. I'm pretty sure I'm getting the HG in dyneema, it's just the rigging options...
They look pretty cool. One of my problems with the CRL is that I don't like fiddling with the prussiks when its wet and cold, these could be a solution.
Also wasnt sure how the CRL would work on...
Thanks for all of the great tips!
I've actually been quite happy with my tarp but I want to save some weight and upgrade to dyneema. Also want to try a different setup and see if I like it. There...
I haven't been on here in a while but I'm finally going to invest in a new tarp. For reference, my old tarp is a 10' OES made out of Spinnaker! I had a continuous ridgeline with Dutch fly and hook...
That looks simpler that what I had in mind, but also looks pretty effective. You said you use it with a tarp as well? Do you have any pics of it in use? Thanks for the response.
Hello,
Haven't been on here in ages and I'm currently on the road living the vanlife! I want to make a hammock stand that I can keep on the ladder rack of my van so I can hang when I don't have...
I think this would totally work, thank you.
Now how would I sew the hemmed piece of fabric to the pack itself? I was thinking of attaching it to the khaki flaps, but I'm not sure how to get my...
This is going to be a little difficult to explain, but I have a DIY project I can't quite figure out. Any help is appreciated.
I own a GG Virga Pack. I have attached a tube like stuffsack in the...
Anyone know where I can find the Speers no tangle guy lines? Or another guy line that is similiar? I'm going back to figure 9s on my stakes and long guy lines. Thanks for any help.

Thank you... That area is my problem now as I have booked sites for RMNP. I can find a lot of small campsites, but they are full or first come/first serve.
Not many trees out there. Thank God for...
I meant sites not silver in the first paragraph!

Hey all,
Need some help. I'm heading to rocky Mountain National Park this July and was planning to stay on the east side of the park the first night and the West side the second night. Looks like...
Looks like I have to work tonight although I will hopefully be done early. Would it be possible to set up late tonight (maybe as late as 11pm)? I can definitely be quiet. Just don't want to have to...
Trying to get off of work for the weekend as we speak. Is anyone hiking out of the event? I am definitely off through Tuesday night if anyone is interested.
Well looks like I'm probably going out this Sunday. Probably going to either Crescent rock in VA or Pole steeple in PA. Just a quick overnight. If anyone is interested in meeting up let me know.
Yea I've been through 2 aluminum cones in 5 years. Not bad but I figured titanium would last longer.
Thanks for the tips. Still on the fence. Don't know if I want to invest in a hole punch as well?!?
Don't really care. I live in baltimore so something within an hour or two of me. I have a bunch of overnight spots in the area bit always like to try something new.
Im thinking of making a caldera cone with it and was curious how the material is to work with. Can I use scissors and a hole punch like I do on aluminum flashing?
I might be trying to get out one of the next few Sunday nights for an overnighter. Anyone interested?
My friend and I are doing a week long trip in late spring. We are trying to do something other than the AT but within 4 hours drive of Baltimore. We are in good shape and average 15 miles per day....
Black Wolf! Be great to see you. Are you hiking in or out as well?
Has anyone spoke to two tents lately? Tried to pm him but his inbox is full. Sorry if this is off topic but i figured someone here may know. Thanks.
Thanks. If not I'll check that site.
Still on the hunt for any of this material
I am in again! Cannot wait. Ill wait to signup because i may be bringing some friends
Definately interested in a post hike. Looking into the tuscarora or another trail. I have done those AT...
Think maybe I should hit it with DWR and see if that fixes it?
Last trip I experienced some light misting at times through my spinn MacCat tarp. I've had the tarp over 5 years with no problems at all and it's been used a lot. I'm wondering if I just need to...

Had a great time! Thanks to all the organizers and raffle donators.
The hike in and out were both awesome. It was great hiking with john, wingnutt, Brian p and crew... And then out with MML,...
I am not 100% positive, but I think there is one. If so it is in the field by the shelter. I have hung across from the shelter and near the stream a few times. There is a fire ring and logs to sit...
I have a map I can scan tonight. Just PM me your email. The trail is very well marked through that section though.
I camp with a lot of non hammockers so going to ground has always been an important option. Versatility in camp site selection is one of the main reasons I was attracted to hammocking. I didn't want...
2Q... Any chance you'll be bringing your caldera cone making jig? I really want to make a two piece cone and that would make it soooo easy. I'll bring my own flashing, scissors, and hole punch (I...
I am more than willing to help in anyway we can get two tents and Ben to the hang. I have a buddy coming up Friday night (a non member named Andrew). He is bringing me a resupply box for my hike out....
Well if you want to join me that would be great. I'm going to park near the old forge picnic area around noon and stay at Rocky Mountain that night.
Are you still in for the post hike?
Well after much thought I am going to start around the Anteitam shelter around noon on Wednesday. I'll stay at Rocky Mountain that night and birch run on Thursday night. I'm going to leave my car at...
Awesome! Thanks MML. Can't wait!
I am in for the post hike to boiling springs. I would need a ride back to Pine Grove Furnace on Tuesday. I need to be back to work on Wednesday morning. If you could fit me in and get me back I would...
