The hammock ridgeline is meant to be pretty loose and your hammock will swing of course.
The tarp on the other hand should be over a very taught line and staked down tight,...
I recently whipped mine in a sort of warbonnet style and the lay turned from good to great.

I whipped my GTUL warbonnet style (without the ridgeline running thru, I just attach to the suspension) ... I have been getting a really nice flat lay @ 85 inches,...

This ridgeline mod seems to have been pioneered by GrizzlyAdams... I saw photos of his modified SBPro on this...
With respect for the fact that I am slow, I must say that I dont understand going thru all of that trouble to use seat belt material...

You might know this, or might not... There are a couple of types of ridgeline... "Structural" and "Non-structural" and you can hang gear from either.

A profound difference from my GTUL, which I now wonder if it is simply too small for me. (6ft) I have slept very well...
Part of my enthusiasm for solo trips to the woods is reckoning with my fear / imagination in the dark of night. ...STILL WORKING ON IT!

I use paracord / adjustable knot around 90" long
Doesnt make a big difference in the hang comfort for me, but hangs my bug net and a few things I need while in the hammock...
