Welcome from the stateline! Our scout troop does a bit of trekking out your way.
I can't speak for the warbird, I have a Clark NA. However, I've hung in that with a large Thermarest (Ridgerest with silver on one side, green on the other) in my 20 degree bag and was comfortable in...
Thanks for posting this!
I used to have a pair of polarfleece booties I would wear with my drysuit when scuba diving. After I sold off my gear, I once in a while pine for the polarfleece on some...
Thanks for posting your project, I'll be starting mine soon... with new ideas.
This is the post I was looking for! I had already spent about 2 hours and a few sheets of paper trying to figure out how to do something with the poncho liner.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the links!
I'm new to the terminology here and just went through a few "start here" pages.
Those should help me kill some time :)
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for the ideas!
Nice job!!
I was wondering if anyone has done a DIY project with surplus military poncho liners fashioned into a UQ.
I was planning on purchasing the Z-liner for my Clark NA, but the money well has dried up...
From reading other posts, I think I'll go the hybrid UQ route with poncho liners. If I can slow myself down in the process, I'll take and post pictures of the project.
I have a North American model, but I've never been bitten.
Sounds like seam sealer and permethrin is the way to go. I've used that stuff on socks and pants and have been bite-free for 3 years now.
I've been mocking up some pouches (trying the DIY route) today. What I am planning on doing is having a small 1/4" w x 1 1/2" long nylon tab sewn onto one side of each pouches bottom. The pouch...
I'm debating whether to make pockets like the z-liner or make a hybrid UQ using 1 or 2 military poncho liners.
My first idea was to sew 2 poncho liners together (for loft), then velcro the foot...
Glad you mention the tail piece, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! :)
Welcome to TRUE comfort!
From what I've seen on Clark's comparison charts, the NX-200 is a diferent size than the NA. Good ideas on the thread link, but looking at the pictures in it, I don't think that will fit the NA.
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has the dimensions for the z-liner insulation for a North American model.
I was all set to buy the z-liner from Clark, but things took a nose dive on the...
I have a foam pad that I lay inside the hammock (carry it in case I can't set up the 'mock and will spend the night on the ground). I also have some "reflectix" (lookslike silver bubble wrap) from...
That stuff works great. I have section cut to fit the under pockets of the Clark NA and it really boosts the warmth.
Thanks for the heads up.
(and Semper Fi)
Hi there! I started swinging from the trees about 2 years ago when my son got into Boy scouts and I realized my body wasn't going to handle 7 years of outdoor adventure sleeping on the ground.
I...
