I use continuous loops made of mason line to a finished size smaller than a quarter. Easy to grab if your whoopie gets buried and you can hang stuff off it as well.

I've used a square foot mummy bag as a pod. The square end allows for not of a diagonal lay for me but there's always a little extra left over. I would pile the extra over my feet for added warmth. ...

I've used a fleece sleeping bag with a pad or good underquilt down to mid 50s pretty comfortably when dressed warm enough to stand around in those temps. Living in Alabama, I experience similar...
When I started I used a square foot mummy bag as a pod and it went pretty well. I was using a pad in the hammock too. Pads are cheap and will work pretty well above freezing.
Just for clarification, you said the new colors are not yet listed on the site, but in your original post you mentioned that the new tarps were lighter and at lower prices than the previous versions....
Hand sew it shut. Just sandwich the two sides of the cut together and hand sew them together. Think football laces; real tight loops.

I'll take the grey remote and extra fuel line.

How much does the black backpack weigh?
What you've done looks good but is way overkill in my opinion. Unless you are hanging high up in the trees a straight stitch with a box and an "X" in the middle would suffice or a couple of "W"s...
what type of bug netting do you use FIMB?
Welcome from south of Montgomery.
Doogie, are you running a continuous ridgeline on your tarps which allows the movement back and forth to center the tarp? I didn't see you discuss that in your first video, only the ability to...
If you're worried about the buckle you can wrap the tree twice or use d rings instead.
I've been off the forum for a while but someone used to sell underquilt blanks where all you had to do was fill with down and close one end. I remember them being very reasonably priced and would be...
Been out of the loop for a while this year, but in that time I missed my opportunity for Argon Sil. Please bring it back Dutch! If we're waiting for a production run, a woodland camo version would...
Thanks squidbilly. I was really looking forward to it but it just wasn't in the cards. Logan and I will try to make the Cheha hang it may though.
Most likely I am going to have to miss this one since we are full swing into trying to pack up our home. If it was a little closer maybe but I'll definitely try to make the next one.
Weather isn't looking good for next weekend and sipsey + rain can be unforgiving in my experience.
I'm trying to make it with my cousin but our house is up for sale and supposed to close on the 22nd of April if everything goes as planned. Not a lot of time to pack up between now and then. If we...
Thanks for the videos Dutch. Now I need to go see how mine are threaded and see if I had it right.
I have a set of these and I don't think I ever noticed a difference in the slot sizes. Have I just been doing it correctly by accident? I would also wonder what thickness webbing they were using. ...
Everything I have is DIY, but I would love a cuban fiber tarp or even a sil tarp that I didn't make. Just haven't been able to part with the money yet. My hold up is about 70%-30% time and money;...
Wrap them in tyvek envelopes and secure with rubber bands.
I'm very interested in your results with the aluminum poles from quest. Will you PM me with any threads you start on your results? I have a frame I built from crutches that works pretty well, but...
I've noticed when viewing the forum from work on a version of internet explorer that says it is the latest version but has issues with many websites, the quick reply area is larger than the space...
I must be a thread killer as no one responded (sheds a tear)
Is your 1.9 hammock a double layer? It seems to be about 7 oz heavier than it should be assuming the fabric weight is correct and it is approximately 60" wide.
Welcome and good luck!
After the upgrade I have been trying to figure out the lay of the land. Initially I noticed my favorite link/button, "Today's Posts" was no longer available, although I see now that it has been...
All the pages on the oware site seem to be not working right now. Does this place always sell fabric or just sparingly?
Welcome from Montgomery.
First, thank you for your service. Second, welcome from Montgomery. There is supposed to be a group hang the weekend of April 4-6 at the Sipsey Wilderness area a little northwest of Birmingham if...
I'm in thanks.
I thought this thread was about fanny packs. I'm glad to see I was wrong.
When will the camo be available on the website?
Welcome from Montgomery.
I usually take the left over tails and join them as my ridgeline to hold up my bugnet and ridgeline organizer. I made extremely long whoopies compared to most I've seen on this forum and usually...
Obviously these poles are made to bend and not break, but if you used them to build a frame for a camp chair, similar to the coffey chair http://coffeychair.com/, would they work? I was wanting to...
I never understood how blowing air/down into a closed container (quilt) would work because the air has to have somewhere to go and down proof material doesn't seem to breathe that well to me. I used...
I've noticed if I change the display mode on the thread I can get the videos to show up. It's the last option in the dropdown, "Switch to Threaded Mode". It is easier if a link is included though. ...
Thanks for the suggestion. Their products look great and website includes a lot of info.
I ended up buying a can of scotch guard from Walmart to try sealing the tarp. It was around $6 so no huge loss if it doesn't work. I don't get out but once or twice a year right now which prevents...
I hung the tarp from the ends but with a ridgeline. It's just the ridgeline was not under the tarp. This was a really quick hang as it was raining and I don't have a set place in the yard to hang a...
I purchased some fabric of unknown origin from Hancocks probably back in 2012 because it looked like it might shed water. I first tested it by gathering it up into a ball and filling with water; no...
