When I was setting up my profile, there was a copy of Ernest Hemingways's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" on my desk next to the computer. It was the first thing I saw so I added an extra 'M' and that was...
Ok cool. Im gonna be in gainesville sat anyway, and would be heading back to tampa on sunday, so theres nothing stopping me from stopping on the way and doing an overnighter in ocala.
Hey is this hang still going this weekend? I could probably do a sunday night. I live faily close to Ocala
To all the North gulf residents, best of luck riding out the approaching hurricane.
Also, a hurricane tarp test. Just an idea. pics or it didnt happen:laugh:
Ha! I tell you what, If I had a whole barn full of tarps I might send you one, just for kicks, but Im kind of partial to the one I have. Good luck riding out the storm and be safe.
Thanks for setting up the new site, it is very helpful
To all those in the Northern gulf, stay safe up there. I reckon you have another 24 hours of good hammocking weather before you might need to head inside. I tell you what though, it would be...
If youre sitting still, Ive found the thermacells to work very well. I used one for the first time sitting in a treestand during hunting season last year, and I wasnt bothered by mosquitos at all.
In the winter, on the water's edge, between a couple sturdy palms. Theres nothing else like it. This picture is from lake seminole in pinellas county, FL

I had the same problem a while back. In fact, the replacement that ENO sent me had the same problem, and it was missing some stitching in a couple other areas. The third net was finally free. Eno...
Looks like a good trip. I like the camo gear, very cool.
Welcome from Tampa Bay. Youre in a good state for hangin'.
Im very excited about the atlas straps. I always liked the design of the slap straps, and used them frequently on short outings, but they were no good for overnight hangs. I think these poly atlas...
This thread is going to cause another recession. :)
I'm in. Looking forward to it.
+1 on that. I usually grab the knot and give it a good shake. That loosens it up.
Ordinarily you can attach any suspension system to any hammock without any issues. I am also a fan of adjustable webbing suspension. Its quick and simple. Just make sure to tie a quick slippery knot...
Awesome! I always liked how the slap-straps functioned, minus the stretchniness of the nylon. I will definitely look into these new polyester straps.
I know all about the humidity. The problem is when its hot and muggy out, you need a bug net, but the bug net blocks the breeze that you need to cool off when its hot and muggy out. Its a real...
welcome aboard from Tampa Bay
I have a similar situation behind the seat in my truck. I call it the black hole.
Ive recieved a few stickers and a drink coozy with a few of my ENO orders. I didnt know they had bumper stickers though.
Welcome to the forums, and to the ENO club. I also find my singlenest to be a little narrow, but still comfortable. Happy hanging'.
Make sure you get a good sturdy eye-bolt. There are some cheap ones out there that wont hold a person's weight without bending.
But to answer your question, yes a good eye-bolt in the center of a...
Thanks everyone for all the kind words.
I figured I'd write up a conclusion before I headed off to bed, since I kind of left the last post hanging without one.
I didn’t know what to do as I crawled out of my hammock and walked out...
Cant wait for the video. I love wildernesslogics gear. congrats on the sweet pickup
I picked the fancy, expensive mesh adidas that I thought would be so great to hike in, but are almost impossible to hike in becasue they fill up with sand. Those shoes have been a real...
stretchy straps, must be made of nylon. Good report, that looks like a really nice area.
Definitely get up some pics. Hammock people love looking at other people's hammocks. Congrats on the first hang
Welcome to the forums! Myakka is one of my favorite places. I spent quite a few nights down at panther point and bee island.
Well I have insomnia tonight, so I wrote this to pass some time. its not a true story neccessarily, but just a collection of things Ive experienced compressed into a single story.I dont know if this...
Very cool. And I like the term "cold cheek syndrome" I havent seen that one yet. congrats on a good hang
Another great vid, thanks for posting.
Sounds like a good first hang, and especially since it was a DIY hammock. I dont think I could make a hammock that was hangable now even after using one for some time. Congrats.
If I am understanding your picture correctly, you plan to hang the hammock using some eyelet screws. Thats exactly what I do in my house and it hangs just fine. I sleep in it all the time. Mine hangs...
Heres one I took sitting on the edge of lake seminole near Tampa Bay.

I agree with Diva B, that squirrel pic is...
I dont think the fact that I enjoy hammocks is what people find strange, instead it is the enthusiasm. People dont understand why someone could be so interested in a piece of fabric that you sleep...
welcome from tampa bay
I went out two days in the green swamp during archery season, and I saw people doing all kinds of stupid things. You're right about hunting on private land, its the only way to go. If we could get...
This is turning into a good thread. Crazy Hammock Pictures, GO!
C130s usually have that cargo net inside. You could probably just carry a couple good carabiners with you and attach it right to the cargo net
+1 on the animated knots. I watch them on youtube all the time. I'd have to say the trucker's hitch is my favorite hammocking knot.
OK I'll go ahead and make plans for that date just in case. I really dont want to miss another FL hang; havent been able to make it to any so far, not good.
very helpful. thanks for posting
Is there a date set for the Hotter'n H*** Hang yet? i need to plan way in advance.
Sorry I missed you guys. I really hate my weekend heavy job. Sounds like a good trip.
I watched both vids. Good Stuff Schnik
A nylon expert might correct me on this but.... Nylon shrinks back to its original shape when the tension is let off of it, so the straps will keep stretching and shrinking f\over and over again...
Ok I hope to make out there sunday
