A long time ago I discovered that if I put my bedtime hot water bottle in my crotch I stay warmer longer. I freely admit that this may well be psychosomatic but, hey, the net result is the same. :)
The topic pretty much says it all; I would like a device that I can consult in the morning to find out how cold it got the night before. What do you use?
Thanks!

Congratulations on your first foray into a great hobby.
Pro Tip: One can practice many essential camping skills (setting up shelters, cooking, et cetera) in your back yard before hitting the trail.
As a fellow coffee enthusiast, might I suggest you check out the Aeropress? It's a coffee-making device that can be used to make a truly superior cup just about anywhere. The device is pretty heavy...
Sometimes life can throw at you curve balls that you never, ever saw coming. Unfortunately, last week, life saw fit to throw me several of them. But that's not the point of my post. This is: I have...
nu2hike,
PM sent.
I have a Patagonia Houdini for sale. I let my girlfriend talk me into buying it it at a local store "just in case" when we were on the way to an out-of-state hike, and I realized I had left my...
That was the first thing I did.
It's not just Adam who is out of stock; it seems ripstop nylon in weights appropriate for this application can not presently be had in camo patters. Well, that's...
I need a top quilt suitable for warm weather. It should be an earth tone color or, in a perfect world, camo.
Alas, the good Mr. Stormcrow - one of the few quilt makers who offered camo as an...
Still lookin'.
Looking for a Mountain Magic 55 pack. Can send payment same day. Shoot me a message, or post here if you can help me out.
Thanks!
The MJ looked like an interesting prospect because, unlike a regular ol' rhomboid tarp, the ends of the A-frame can be enclosed with the addition of the removable doors, providing shelter from wind...
SOLD
Thanks!
Sometimes I hike with a lady friend. And on those occasions, I like to sleep on the ground because....well, you can probably figure out why. ;)
Being on a limited budget, it occurred to me that it...
What's the lead time on new orders these days? A buddy and I are giving serious thought to pulling the trigger on a top and bottom quilt for each of us, but he fired off an email a few days ago...no...
FYI, you might have better success posing this question in the "General Hammock Talk" forum. Perhaps some kindly mod will come along and move the thread for you...! <wink wink, nudge nudge>

I've been looking for a simple, lightweight, gathered-end hammock (à la the Warbonnet Traveler) in a camouflage print for a while, but to no avail. I thought about making one myself, and I know it's...
Good to know. But...this is the Hammock Gear subforum!
Mundele:
Which Crowsnest do you have; summer, three-season, or winter?
Thanks!
GFY
The Hammock Gear website suggests that their summer-weight underquilts (both full-length, and ¾-length) will keep users warm to 40° with 800 fill down, and 35° with 900 fill down. How accurate is...
edit: I don't think I was very clear with my original post (sorry), so I'll try again:
Several companies make light/ultralight stuffsacks that are waterproof. For example:

Bow chikka wow wow? :jj:
I can confirm that, where there's a will, there is, indeed, a way.
...And that's all I have to say about that.
Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but did we ever get the respective weights? I'm now facing the OP's dilemma as well...
A PERFECT excuse to treat yourself. Or, you can tell your wife "Honey, I wanted to be helpful, so I already bought my Christmas present for you!"
Three-way trade/sale? I'd do that; makes no difference to me. :)
Are you sure you don't want to buy it? You'll be wishing you had when skeeter season starts back up. :D
Anyway, yes, I'm sure; when the skeeters come around, I'll get a bugnet. And really, in...
I bought this from Brandon a couple weeks ago, slept in it twice in the back yard, liked it very much, but decided that a single-layer 1.7 Traveler will better fit my needs. There is (as one would...
Neat! How much does it weigh?
You have GOT to be kidding me. Have you no dignity?
Perhaps a double layer might be a bit more resilient?
Start another thread about that subject somewhere, and I'll be happy to discuss it. :)
Hmm... But since they're not full-length, do they not require a supplemental pad to keep one warm? (A recent thread wherein this point is mentioned can be found here.) The pad, being yet another...
Somehow Kick *** Quilts slipped under my radar. Warbonnets had grabbed my attention, but their UQ design didn't seem too great to me. And, I was a bit dubious about the notion of using a down UQ in a...
I just got back from a multi-day trek into a California piece of the Pacific Coast Range, and while the details aren't important for the purposes of this thread, it will suffice to say that this will...
