I want a treadle machine pretty baddly. My BF's mom has a 66 that was upgraded to electric, and an older treadle only. They belonged to his grandmother.

How many grouse before you have enough down to stuff a top quilt?
Thats how I felt in RI with 1,006 people per square mile. Connecticut isn't a whole lot better, but I always felt things were more crowded in RI.
I went to the store an got some amsteel blue and shock cord to finish off the big tablecloth hammock i started yesterday. I like buying from a local store, but I wish they had more colors of...
I got some tarp clips at walmart to try out. I'm very pleased with how much it helps. Next step is to dial in were I want the tie outs and then to sew in something permanent.
Has anyone put guy lines on their tablecloth hammock? I am nto a fan of swing/sway, and I also am prone to motion sickness. I have never had issues in my Hennessy hammock, but 20 minutes in the...
I was having the same thought. My parents boat went a few years without use because we were caring for my grandmother. I am glad no one "liberated" anything from it.
There are areas I won't climb at anymore because of the damage done to trees. They are so over used and the land is paying for it. I know that once I start talking about climbing the forces...
Thats actually one of the reasons I'm pro chat. I'm sure plenty of information gets exchanged at group hangs that never makes it to the forums, but most people wouldn't say anything about it taking...
That is true, an a climbing rope fills out the webbing all the way. Climbing ropes do plenty of damage to trees, I see plenty of damage from over use at popular areas.
I use um on one of my hammocks. I know how to tie knots instead, but I like the little plastic things. They're simple, eligant, and glow in the dark.
We use tubular webbing to protect our anchor ropes on group rock climbing trips. Take that for what you will
I'm a forum n00b and would like to go, but i also have plans that weekend. (College buddies and I have an anual fall birthday camping thing) I'll keep an eye out for the next one :)
My dad didn't care when he saw me making them. Then when i was lending my brother a hammock and showing him how everything worked my dad was impressed.
Good work :)
I have a bulb air squeeze thing for cleaning my lenses, it sounds like thats what you are talking about. Maybe this will be a good project for the weekend. I have been wanting to take it in for a...
One of the things i don't like about my machine is all the electronic gobildy gook. I'm still terrified to open it up for real upkeep. I do open it up enough for lint/thread/dust bunny removal. ...
I made my first hammock today. My bright purple tablecloth hammock has now replaced the spreaderbar hammock in the yard.
I'd go for that over the other options. I don't like most web broswer based chat programs. I think an unaffiliated hammock irc channel would free the mods from having to deal with extra stuff, and...
I just attached my tablecloth hammock to my backyard hammock stand. (spend the extra on the vario, the sumo stand isn't tall enough for a lot of gathered end hammocks) I used the original suspension...
Alright I used the sew all and didn't die :)

I was playing with my camera's self timer and really slow shutter speeds and was foiled by my spreader bar backyard hammock this evening. Fortunately I didn't get caught on camera, i broke my...
This is why i'm confused and asked. I know that they make a bunch of different stuff from reading the forums, but I can't find a strength rating on any of it. The math does make me feel better...
I have my table cloth, I have my sewing machines, I have some gutterman 100% polyester sew all. I want to make my hammock with sewn end channels... is the sew all strong enough? I see various...
Carding and combing arn't actually the same thing. Carding creates fibers facing every which way into a nice batt like one would use for quilting. Combing allins all the fibers and pulls out the...
We have a big boat supply store nearish to me. They carry amsteel blue and spyderline. Granted the store is defender, which is way better stocked then west marine. If you want to go with the...
The women who answered me about weaving hammocks says the one she has was woven on a vertical loom. Which seems simple enough to use. For what the yarn would cost, yes, you could probably just...
If you want guttermman I would call some of the local quilt shops. It looks like your area has a few to choose from.
Good point, I edited mine to be more specific.
Also, the double 8 is a fun knot. We always used that when I was working ropes courses.
As a climber my favorite knots are
-the figure 8(edit I mean figure 8 on a bite, alternatly you can use a figure 8 follow though), bowline (both for making loops in an end),
-autoblock, but a...
Good to know. Its just for the treeless yard, so travel doesn't come into the equation. A fly would be nice for nights I choose to sleep outside. Food for thought.
I'm a bit of a fiber artist, I spin and knit and do some weaving occasionally. My weaving skills aren't anything to write home about, but its very satisfying. I just asked on a back-strap weaving...
That one was actually on my short list of possibilities. I'll let you know what I decide to go with and how it works out.
THanks for the input. I found one really pretty arch shapped stand in my google searches, but for almost $500 I'll pass. I have considered a DIY pipe stand (I have no woodworking skills) but I'm...
Short version: I want a comercial hammock stand that will work with a gathered end hammock. What do I need to look for?
Hi, I've been lurking for a little while, and today I've got a paycheck...
