Have you thought about Karo step quilt? I've built a couple and it's much easier to stuff and move down around. Since there are no closed baffles, you can just dump all the down into the quilt in...

Have you thought about Karo step quilt? I've built a couple and it's much easier to stuff and move down around. Since there are no closed baffles, you can just dump all the down into the quilt in...
Both my girlfriend and I have gotten in the same hammock. I made them with both 1.6 HyperD and 1.9 ripstop, and each is only a single layer.. We're about 400 lbs. total. My standard hammock I use...
I don't think it's necessary. I have a gathered end hammock I made out of 1.0 HyperD, and I'm over 250 lbs. I've slept in this hammock for about 20 nights now. No issues at all...and it only...
Just wondering if anyone has tie dye-ed 1.9 ripstop before. Is there a certain dye recipe for nylon? Are there good patterns for hammocks? Any walkthroughs or youtube videos? Is it best to tie...
RBTR is great! Instructions and a MYO kit for the tensile would probably go well.
I don't think that 7/64th Amsteel will be your fail point, unless you knot it do something else to the Amsteel that you shouldn't. I feel like the fabric would let go before the Amsteel. I've had...
Thanks for heads up and yep, you are correct.
A new JoAnn's is opening up tomorrow in town and I have a 50% off coupon for one item. Any recommendations on a thread injector that will do thick insulation, like Climashield 10.0?
Right now I...
The setup is good. It's super warm with 2 Costco quilts under it. I'm just wondering if all the down under the pad is necessary, or if it's just not doing much. One of the Costco quilts is seam...
I have recently made a DL 1.6 HyperD gathered end hammock in order to use our Klymit Insulated Static V pads. After trying it out, I'm left wondering if all the UQ insulation under the pad is...
I'm around 250 lbs and I have slept in my gathered end 1.0 HyperD I made this summer. I think I'm up to 6 full nights in it plus many hangs for testing and naps. I like the stretchier fabric, since...
I have a short gathered end (about 9-9.5 feet) that I did a half W on, at least that's what I call it. I don't pull the middle all the way up to meet the edges, I just pull it up halfway. Then I...
Glad to hear the RL worked out. I think I'm going to try it out on my winter tarp. Actually I may just copy what you've done almost exactly. I like the wide fabric and what you've done with the...
Guess I'll start saving now.
I'm about the same size as you and have spent several nights in a 1.0 HyperD gathered end hammock I made.

Is there going to be an option for the XL fabrics to be coated (especially with PU4000)?
I'm wanting to make a large winter tarp with doors, and thought the 1.0 Robic XL would be perfect if it...
I'm thinking about the same project.
Why did you use grosgrain on the RL instead of just seam sewing? Does it waterproof the seam better? How much weight does it add?
What about side...
I put shockcord from each of the four corners to end of the hammock. Then I added a channel around both ends of the UQ, and ran shockcord through it and around my ridgeline to keep it up, and to...
Doesn't look bad to me at all...and I'm not a small guy.
I'm about the same measurements as you and I spent two nights last weekend in my DIY 1.0 HyperD 11 footer. It weights 8.5 ounces with suspension. It's so light and easy to pack.

I like gathered end so I can change the length easily and I'm all for less sewing. I also like that I can change the tautness of the edges of the hammock by how far you pull them out before you whip...
I'm hoping I can make one that nice! And I would think 30 oz for that size and that much loft would be great! Glad to hear sewing the baffles isn't bad also.
That looks nice!! I like the way you did the side pullouts on the hammock.
Cut some blaze orange 1.0 HyperD today and made a hammock with the kids. Cut the raw fabric to 10.5 feet, hemmed the edges, whipped the ends with some paracord I had laying around, and made some...
This sounds interesting. Never been to a group hang before, but it sounds like yall like to eat about as much as I do. I will know if I can come for sure once it gets closer.
And how much can you get Amsteel for? Cincy isn't that far.
Check out this thread on different way to tie soft shackles from TacBlades

These are WAAAAAY easier to tie seem to...
Ripstop by the Roll recommends Sil-Net for the Membrane PU4000. Here's a link to an article about what works and what doesn't.

I would be in for a group buy on 7/64 Amsteel
Has anyone made a tarp out of RBTR's Membrane PU4000? I was reading THIS on their site after buying some and was wondering about the reinforcements. I'm thinking about attempting this tonight.
If you double up the insulation in the footbox, do you need a baffle/quilting along the top edge of the extra insulation or will sewing it on 3 sides be enough to keep it in place?

I slept in the yard the last time it wasn't raining to try out the new soft shackle I made after watching your video. They worked great. Even had 2 hammocks hanging on the same shackle...
That looks awesome! I've been leaning toward the same project. I'm definitely stealing the grossgrain loops to prusiks. I like using soft shackles for my prusiks, so I can attach them to any loop.
