    My Newest Creation

This is an UL synthetic UQ. Putting together a set up to carry around in the truck.

Between meetings on Sunday I set up in a park to read and tap a nap. It was fine for a mild day but will need more than just the hammock because it's going to get cooler around here and might even rain some day!

So, this set up will have a stealthy flavor in MARPAT hammock and a coyote brown PU tarp on the way. It will have a military bug net and poncho liner for a TQ, which I tested night before last. It worked okay but any cooler and it won't be enough.

This UQ is real basic. Inner shell is from a patch of MARPAT that did not print the camo pattern so it makes a nice contrast. I didn't finish or fold any edges except to make the channels. It's 62x48 inches. The insulation is 2.5 Climashield Apex. Just pinned it up and sewed it together:

Thanks, Red. I have no sure notion of the temperature. 50s?

There's another pile of 5.0 Climashield for another UQ. I'll carry them both in the truck. Between the two of them I should be able to get pretty low.

    Thanks, Cali!

I discovered that I can get more reading done in the back yard, hanging in a hammock. The birds and dogs barking don't distract me like the TV blaring inside. I care for my aging mother, who is terminally ill. She is on continuous oxygen and is very weak; she has nothing to do but listen to TV and look out the window. I have a ton of reading for my work so need to move that operation outside.

Thanks, Acksprye. Yes, we have a nice number of those kinds of days here.

Mentions ultralight => doesn't provide a weight. That's gotta be an offense punishable by death, or something

Reminds me of a Woobie, I like it. I really need to make time to get to know my new Thread Injector.

LOL That's exactly right! What was I thinking??

A weight shall be posted forthwith! (How long is a forthwith?)

Yes, it saves a lot of money.

I've got scraps from projects that are begging to be sewn into something useful.

    It's 10.6 ounces.

Used bank line for suspension and four rubber bands instead of shock cord.

I run lines to the rubber bands at the four corners and tie off in the loop. No cord locks needed.

Sorry for the delay. Had to replace the battery in my scale. It uses the same as my Suunto Core watch, which was a nice discovery but a detail no one wanted to know!
