Hammock Tarp to Ground Tarp? SF Question.

I am a recent convert to hammock camping and am doing continuous research on the best setup for my use. I find myself mostly doing trips to the Sierra and want a system that I can go to the ground with such as when above tree line. Therefore I'm set on using a pad and the HB Sky Bed looks to be a good choice to integrate with a pad. As far as a tarp I really like the WB SuperFly.

    So here is my question:
Has anyone used a SF as a ground based tarp? I always hike with poles and I am not seeing why this would not work.

Seems like it would work fine as a groundshelter to me, though I'm not well-versed on the differences between a hammock tarp and a ground sleeping tarp.

Size wise it's plenty big enough plus the panel pull outs give you more interior room.

I know Ranger Joe tarp camps with a big Mamajamba which is the same as the Super fly but without doors. seemed to work good for him.

They work fine, just need to pack extra stakes. Works good when you only have one tree (anchor point) as well

Look at WarBonnets Ridgerunner as well .. Makes a good bivy

I appreciate all the replies. I've yet to camp with a tarp on the ground or in the air. I had setup an 8x10 poly on the ground a few times to practice rigging and see if I liked the system. Although a tarp is not real complicated I want to make sure I am not overlooking something simple, overcomplicating, or simplifying a complexity

It's already been said.. but yep, the Super Fly is a great option for going to ground. I have a buddy I camp with every month that uses it as a ground dweller every time we go out, in a 4 seasons... in Oregon.
    Great tarp.
