or Howdy rather?
I am new to hammocking and to anything rougher than car camping, although backcountry trekking has always been a desire.
I picked up a couple Hennessy hammocks for me and the wife and after a fun but rough learning experience, am coming to the forums realizing I still have a lot to learn.
Why I got into hammocking?
I am a full-time preacher / minister and discovered that hammocking seems to fit a minister's life very well. Hangs are flexible in scheduling, and are more affordable than traditional vacations. I like that I can now plan youth trips, men's retreats, marriage enrichment retreats, etc, all at the cost of some picnic goodies and a state park fee.
I am able to use my hammock for some much needed study/quiet time.
Mainly though, there is no pettiness, drama, or excuses made in the woods. Just us, in that moment, fully committed to the present. It's a lifestyle to glean from.
I am looking forward to being involved in group hangs, soaking up knowledge and ideas from the forums, and getting to know you veteran hangers.
Thank you in advance!
