Hammocks in St. Johann Park Vienna, Austria

On my third business trip to Austria this year, I stayed in Vienna. I took a walk one day and to my surprise, the park across the street had "hammocks" for lounging. They are made from some type of cable and looked a bit medieval to me so I decided not to partake (plus I was in business attire and it was a bit of a rainy day). It's nice that they use "tree huggers" but the materials used don't look backpack friendly.

Anyway, thought you might like to see park sponsored hammocks from Europe...enjoy.

Interesting post. I work for a company whose headquarters is in Vienna Austria. The company is called Mondi. I'd thought of steath hanging but it seems high risk to me; any thoughts?

Not sure about stealth hanging in Austria. In some ways the culture seems laid back and in other ways not so much. The people there are interesting....they are what I would call "polite" but not "friendly" which makes them hard to read. If someone saw you hanging it's hard to know if they would turn you in to authorities or just smile and pass on by. The last thing I would want to do though is get in ANY type of legal trouble in a foreign country...even a nice modern country like Austria.

    Best of luck!

It would be difficult to stealth camp in most big cities in Austria. You could if you take your time.
I doubt it would be an issue in the countryside.

I know I have stealth hung in NYC and have a friend who used to do overnight hangs in Central park, but he climbed high up in the trees after sunset.
A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.
