I'm thinking about a hike in the Cohuttas - probably a 4 day loop. Has anyone been there lately - how are the water crossings along the Jacks River or Consuagua River?
Any "must see" or "should avoid" areas?
Thanks!

I was up there Labor Day fishing along the Jacks River Trail. Water was pretty low on the way in, that night it stormed pretty good and water rose a fair amount. I only went a few miles in and only had to cross a couple times so I don't know about how bad the crossings will be but with the water being low I don't think you'll have any problems. If you're wanting solitude avoid the Falls, if you don't care about crowds then go check out the Falls.

I've been backpacking on the Jacks River trail and from what I remember water is not an issue. It's been several years since I've been there though.
The hike was great. We stopped counting crossings after about 25 or so. Most were about 2 feet deep, but some were over 3. There's no way to avoid getting wet on this hike! But the falls were worth the crossings.
