MO > Somplace yet to be determined, October 25 & 26

Thought I'd throw this out there to get something started. Let's do a two day hike on the 25th and 26th of this month! Maybe garden of the gods in Il? Perhaps Cathedral Canyon? Is it time to do Bell mountain again?

I do know this, it's time to get out there again with the old crew and the new! I've never been to Peck's Ranch...so what do you all think? Let's get 2-4 good suggestions, pick a spot and go?

Should we go someplace easy and get some of the ladies to join?

Maybe we add Friday in and head to the Buffalo River?

    I'm helping you Disco!

We'll see who else chimes in and then take a pulse on where to go. I've always wanted to see the Garden of the Gods in Il but I don't know how much hiking that amounts to or how far a drive it would be for folks. I also like Cathedral Canyon but parking is a pain and there's actually very little hiking unless you bushwack.

I've been to Bell mountain several times but it remains one of my favorite hikes and one I don't mind repeating!

I'll ask the wife, she might want to go, just have to talk her into it because she "doesn't like to be cold"

I'm actually an avid member over here on the KC side! I might join in on this depending on how my week starts out next week. Would be nice to get to know members on both sides of the state. I'm familiar with the St. Louis area because I lived there for a while and traversed down south eastern Missouri. I'll check back on what you decide on! I've never been to any of those places.

How about Bell Mountain- it might just be a bit after peak, but the best place to see the leaf color!

I was on Bell this past Thursday and Friday, was still a bit early for the colors it seemed, was still beautiful though.

I'd hate to se MoHiker "repeat" bell mountain but maybe if some folks came who've never been, he wouldn't mind it. Here's another thought? Would it be possible to plan a hike that takes us near the Johnson Shutin Scour? I know they have a shart 1 mile hike to that; I'm wondering if there isn't a way to combine the two? Maybe one of knows the trails in that area well enought to know if there's a chance to do something like this? It would be neat to hang by the scour again but I'd want to put in more miles than the 1.3 mile loop (or whatever distance it is).

    Anyone?

PS; I think this weekend might just be the best for fall color so the more I think about it, the more Bell Mountain might be just the right place afterall! We just need to round up a few of the guys or gals! I heard from Hairbear and he says he's in!
