Exercise, eat right, die anyway -- Country Roads bumper sticker
Fall seven times, standup eight. -- Japanese Proverb
Lots of cottage shops farm-out some of their work; I personally, don't see a problem with that. You still deal with the same people you've always dealt with, with the same level of service. The gear is still produced under the same standards, just by somebody else. The Jacks have not (as far as I know) tried to hide this fact and they choose to utilize a company here in the USofA, both important facts to me.
If you like the people you deal with and the gear they sell fits your need, it really shouldn't matter the name of the person that put the gear together. Equinox makes gear for other vendors too and there is a reason many choose them as a production partner; they do very good work.
I do, however, think I'll take a permanent pass on any "brain tanned deer hide" clothing offerings from the Jacks.
Trust nobody!
How about an ultralight brain tanned deer hide half-underquilt? Or maybe a JGH/PC?

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
Ya'll just need to get comfortable in the outdoors.... Brain tanned buckskin has been around a lot longer than nylon... and leggins under an apron wrap is several times breezier than an old wool kilt...
Did you know, Cannibal, et al, that with the exception of and Elephant and a teen aged male, every animals brain is big enough to tan its own hide? And the jury is still out on the Elephant.

Nope, I'm gonna stick with my new-fangled stuff.
I really do love this site! I learn more things that I would never even think of from the diversity of this group. Brain tanned hides and all.

I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

New fangled? Hmmm, I'm currently waiting on an oilskin field coat from empire canvas works...I keep playing with bushcraft and the modern synthetics just cant handle an errant spark.
concerning the Jacks products I just recieved my new poncho from them...now in a few weeks when i'm on the trail i really won't care if it is JRB or Equinox. It is a nice poncho and a proud addition to my kit. Thanks JackS
