    Strap & Buckle Suspension Mod

I like the strap & buckle suspension, but didn't like taking it apart to put it away if it was wet.
Got a pair of the new Dutch Titanium buckles and a pair of whoopie hooks. Connected them with short continuous loops, and now have an easily detachable suspension.
I left some of the bury in the 3 inch loops exposed and then flamed them to make a small ball on the ends to prevent pull through. Seems to work - slept on the rig last night and stayed off the ground. A word of warning, though, I'm 150#, don't know how this would work with more poundage unless you made the loops longer with more bury.
Each loop, buckle. hook rig weighs 1.6 oz on my postage scale. Straps are the lighter weight variety.

I do that but use the Dutch biners. Removable suspension is nice to have.

I've learned the whole "take your wet straps off your hammock before stowing," thing myself, lol... 'course I learned by not doing that the first time... I am so glad you posted up those titanium dutch buckles! I was not aware they were out.

The 3" bury is probably enough but if you have any doubts you can replace both the loop and the hook with a Dutch biner. Haven't done it yet but that is my plan for shortening my suspension.

    Snr,
I noticed what looks like a slippery half hitch behind the buckles. I was wondering if you have noticed a bit of slippage wtih the thinner webbing of if this is something you "just do"?
I'm a bit heavier and I do the same, but I had a bit of slippage with my straps but thought it might be because the strapping was new.

The thin straps will slip a bit, so I tie in the hitch.
