    Weight Weenie with Knotty Mod

For years I have used another major brand 10' single layer hammock and was generally satisfied with it. However, I was always having the foot section of my top quilt fall out of the quilt whenever I got up for whatever reason, a cause for constant frustration. Until I read here on HF about the BIAS Hammock Knotty Mod concept, I did not think there was a solution outside of an attached bugnet hammock.

So a month or two ago I ordered a Weight Weenie with the Knotty Mod and this past weekend took it on its virgin voyage. Sometimes when I buy a piece of gear that I don't really NEED, I have a little big of guilt to deal with...but not this time. I am extremely happy with my WW. The knotty mod is a brilliant concept that keeps my top quilt in the hammock, keeps my feet from hanging outside the quilt, and raises the sides which blocks the wind as well as lights from other camp sites shining in my eyes when I don't feel like setting up my tarp. As someone who is 6' tall, going from a 10' to an 11' hammock really does provide me with significant improvement in comfort. When I set it up just right, the center "ridge" in the hammock fabric virtually disappears. It has clearly become my "go-to" hammock for all of my hanging trips.

My compliments to Shane and Brian for a job well done.

I agree! The BIAS WW is just a darn fine bit of kit! I have the first version (no knotty mod), and it has found a permanent home in my pack. On quick day hikes, there's nothing like throwing it up and giving the dogs a rest, or in the day pack with the camera while on vacation. It's found allot of great trees from Hawaii to Costa! Packs up so small, you can't even tell its there.

Congrats on a great purchase! Shane and Brian have a winner with this one.

    Cheers!

My WWM is my favorite hammock. I have several others but this is my hammock of choice for the last 3 years.

I went with the 58" width. It's wide enough to be comfortable and doesn't leave a wall of fabric hanging in your face.

Thanks much! I've been going back and forth between 58" and 60", trying to make up my mind. Did you get the Knotty mod?

No Knotty mod. With the 58" width I didn't really need it.

Does anybody have comments on the 52" version? I know it got a good review on The Ultimate Hang, I'm just looking for more input i.e. did you find it too narrow, just right, etc.
