Overnight backpacking trip at East Fork State Park, OH

I recently had a couple days to myself backpacking in East Fork State Park. I really enjoyed this trip. It was a nearly perfect two days in a beautiful wood. The Fall colors had not quite "peaked", but nearly so. The Backpacking Trail is just over 8 miles in. I hiked about 6 of it in on Thursday, then hiked it back out the next day. Going during the week was a real win. I didn't see a single person all day Thursday. Even on Friday I saw more deer than people.

    Here's the full trip report.

And that is why I named my hammock "The Crippler." No matter how tired I am, I don't want to get out after I lay in it as you now know. lol

Glad to see you made it out into the woods and enjoyed some stealth camping too.

Looks like you had a great trip! I was at East Fork for the first time a few weeks ago. I wished I'd had my hammock then (had just ordered it)--there were acorns EVERYWHERE.

Very pretty place but, it is unfortunate that the only option is to go stealth. My family owns property that is next to the state park and I go up there all the time. I think as long as you stay off the radar you won't have any issues. Great trip report and pics.

Thanks for the comments, guys. It was a nice trip. I try to get out at least once each season. I figured you guys would appreciate the part about just crashing in the hammock for so long.

Glad you enjoyed it! Did you go to backpackers site 2?

Nice! Never heard of this place and it's under 3 hours from me - closer than most I visit. Planned on checking it out until I saw you needed to get a permit and camp at only 4 designated sites
