    FL>N FL>High Springs>Ginnie Springs>11/9 to 11/2014>Open Invite

Going to do a weekend at Ginnie Springs in High Springs, FL, the weekend of Veterans' Day. Will be there from Sunday afternoon to Tuesday noon or so.

A note: Ginnie Springs is a private campground ($20/night/person), but has bathhouses, tubing and kayaking on the river, several springs to lounge in, a PX, and a small restaurant on premise. Adult beverages ARE allowed on the river and in the campground and are prevalent among most patrons (though this late in the season and on a non-Friday/Saturday, it shouldn't be too packed).

Hammocks are allowed, but please be sure to bring straps for the hammock to KEEP it that way.

Just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone wants to come on a front country campout.

    Hope to see you there!

I'd consider it too, but I'm having to save up for the Doe Lake Hang in January. I like Ginnie Springs and the things to do around there, sorry to miss out on the opportunity. Hope you and everyone else have a good time.

Sorry we missed it. The weather must have been perfect for you!
I love Ginnie Springs! The men all have mullets, the women all have b**b j*bs, and a set of teeth between them. A real study in contemporary anthropology. And then there's Naked Ed. .......fascinating.

It was a good time. I really enjoy going this time of year; the only folks out there on Sunday and Monday are the SCUBA crews. They're much more low-key compared to the "Dirty South stomach tattoo" folks.

I don't think we had anyone camped within a tenth of a mile of us on Monday night, and we were in one of the riverside sites.

    It was awfully nice.

I should have a trip report coming up some time this week. Need time behind the computer; I'm not going to try to type the whole thing up on my phone...

Im new to the hammock camping, any chance you could send me some DIY details on the under quilts? I'd love to try my hammock out soon (I normally bundle up in my tents - I have 3 different north face for whatever the occasion may be), but with our temps dropping here in North Florida I'm not too sure what to do to keep warm. Sounds like an udner quilt is going to be my best option.
