Short Intro to Myself and My Hammock Anchor Suspension

    Hello Fellow Hammock Fans,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Giovanni Day. I am a Registered Nurse by trade and love to tinker. I became interested in hammocking a year or so ago. As my interest grew, I came up with a few pieces of hardware I though might benefit the community. I spoke to Dutch about those ideas and he decided produce and sell them for me. He actually made it too easy. As I stated before I am a tinkerer and I decided I wanted the experience of producing them my self. So I sold my original ideas to Dutch and set off on my own to learn the production path myself. After several months of working on a few new ideas, I have the first one ready. I call it the Hammock Anchor. I have several pair available and if there is enough interest, I will put up a website and produce more. I have spent many nights hanging on these my self and feel they are ready for your consumption. Let me know what you think.

The Hammock Anchor (Anchor-H) is designed to replace the whoopie sling and solve some of the issues associated with them. They are made of titanium and weigh only 4.9 grams per pair. I have pull tested them to over 1000lbs. The amsteal actually brakes before the anchor does. I have also worked out an anodizing process and will be offering 4 colors (Purple, Blue, Light Blue and Gold) as well as a non-anodized version. At this point you will have to use your favorite double loop tree hugger, as I will not be providing those. Most people have some amsteal laying around so I will post an instructional video on building the amsteal leader. If you don't have the amsteal or just don't want to make your own leader, I will sell 6' amsteal leaders with anchors attached. I will also offer 8" amsteel continuous loops if you need them for your hammock. The leaders weigh 9 grams each or 18gram/pair. The typical 4ft tree hugger weighs ~55grams/pair. The total weight of this suspension set is 77.9grams or 2.75oz per pair!

I have also launched a new website HammockFan.com to sell from. It will take 2-3 days to get orders out. Thanks for your patients.

    Interesting...
I like the ease of my cinch straps, but this looks promising. Look forward to a price list. Good luck with your venture.

Hey there Giovanni, looks like a great idea! I've had no issues with my whoopie slings, but I'm always open to new ways to skin the cat, so to speak. The concept looks simple enough. Do have have a price in mind for your prototypes or for later production models?

    Good luck with things,

I was not sure if posting prices was against forum rules or not. I do have prices in mind.

I some times could not get them short enough if the trees were close together. I had trouble getting them the exact length I wanted them as they always lengthened when loaded. Also I found them difficult to adjust if there is any weight in the hammock.
